Hi mate, now that you have straightened out my drive, any chance you can spend a little time on my 20-40m chip shot. It’s a shot I think as a 20 handicapper I have no business playing, however because I tend to miss a lot of greens (part of the reason I’m a 20 handicapper no doubt), it’s one I seem compelled to play often.

My stock answer when faced with this shot, conditions allowing, is to bump it up there with a 5 iron. It’s probably time I added some arrows to the quiver. Forgetting execution for a moment, are there any “rules” around club face, backswing and path that I should at least get my head around first?

hi place,

mate for me, get rid of that 5 iron…...

you should be hitting a 52-60 degree’er for those shots….

hands forward, deloft the club, stance wide open, ball position back. hit down into the ball…..

you want the ball to land right where you picture it landing…..

you want to get that good at it that you are reading the greens and breaks from 10-30mtrs out from the pin….

path should be normal, face is square, but delofted.

angle into the ball is the real key here at this distance with a high lofted club…..

you want that high lofted club ballflight coming out low and hard….

only real time it all changes is for the 20mt or so flop

Thankyou Jesus…….., praise the lord.

So here’s the thing. I can do that, I just use a 5 iron so I don’t have to deloft. Maybe I’m worse than I thought. Okay, let me give it another go, I have. 51 degree wedge, or a 56. The 56 wouldn’t feel right.

Ah, I’ve found part 2 !!

56 is good…...

hands forward down and thru….

the feeling is down and thru…not scoop or under….

Thankyou Jesus…….., praise the lord.

take a divot…...

a big one if needed

Thankyou Jesus…….., praise the lord.

You take a divot to hit 40m? Okay, I’m way out of my league here. So even though I said 56 wouldn’t feel right, that’s the club you want me to use? I’d better get to this, I’ve got a game coming up in a few weeks.

Hack, to be fair the supa at Huntingdale has less staff than other local courses and about half the budget of some to work with
( $800 k )
Until recently afew months ago the greens were in good condition.
As for banging your head against a brickwall trying to unearth answers and getting the truth, I feel it would be easier to go straight to the relevant authorities for ” the correct story “

Jon…
ps: only because the other 2 threads have been closed prematurely without answers !

Hey Hack,

I just watched the Holden Scramble vid. Fair effort to hit a running drive after 14 cans !

But I wanted to ask how far you hit driver usually?

…..

around 250mtrs normally

Thankyou Jesus…….., praise the lord.

Just noticed that you won the long drive. And it’s not an over the top swing. As in it’s almost abbreviated.

You can see in all those swings (woods and irons) that you look to get solid compression. Kind of like you are restricting the backswing in order to get the hips in position. Even they look quite quiet to me.

Obviously good timing. As I’ve played with Damo a few times and he seems to fire the right hip a bit more than you so just trying to get a feel for distances etc.

…..

Damo doesn’t hit it that far though, only another 100 or so over 250 :)

What is this golf game you talk of?

Yeah I know !
Just trying to get a feel for it. I think you extend a lot further at the top and drive the hips a touch more for instance.

Just interested in where he is getting the power from.

…..

Is 250 carry? I carry 220 reliably. Anything else is a fluke.

The answer you seek might be contained in this quote from the Zens own site

“Seven years ago, Beaumont was a little-known but talented young professional golfer, getting ready to embark for Spain and test his luck at European Tour Q-School. To make ends meet, he worked on a farm not far from Darwin, in Australia’s Northern Territory, just as he’d done all of his life.”

That might be of assistance mate……

In return get rid of my OTT swing and we will be square…… ;-)

You left off the next paragraph Peg:

“In the blink of an eye, his aspirations were dashed. During a seemingly routine day on the farm, Beaumont was run over and crushed by a front-end loader tractor, resulting in a variety of broken bones, squashed internal organs and brain trauma that left him hospitalized for the better part of two years.”

Sooooo, sounds like he never made it to Europe.

Swing hard, in case you hit it!

That is indeed true, I did leave the next paragraph off. That is not in question, the facts in the 1st were and are…......

ok so scott here is a little of your quotes in your OWN WORDS, verbatim

1. “When I was young I use to dream in the proshop selling mars and coke about playing on tour and made it.”

2. “Yeah it does depend, I got my card for Europe so in my eyes I made it. I’m not letting any one take that away from me. There’s many who have tried and failed.”

3. “I supose depends on what one describes as made it.
Seven years ago, Beaumont was a little-known but talented young professional golfer, getting ready to embark and test his luck at European Tour.”

does anyone disagree with me that it would appear that scott writes like he got his european tour card…..??

I have copied and saved records of all these statements written by you scott,

believe me it can all be put to rest if you can prove that you actually did these things?

Give me a man with big hands big feet and no brains and I will make a golfer out of him .

Quote, Walter Hagen.

I’ve got a question. Why does it even matter?

Is it a forum cred thing ?

…..

Doesn’t matter to me; his past is formally stated in the public domain if people look in the right place. No need to play Sherlock Holmes/Deputy Dawg all rolled into one and bring back old arguments.

If any misrepresentation has occured; people will sometimes bend the truth a little when placed under pressure to justify themselves. Nothing startling in that, and for mine always forgivable.

There are two types of people in this world. Those that can extrapolate from incomplete data….

At the risk of being hauled in for questioning by the forum police again,I just read your post 2putts,first bit of common sense on here for some time…......good comment…....right on
