Just made one of these up, the guy serving recommended that I drill a hole in the grip rather than cutting the end off so the hole will tighten onto the inserted shaft. Either way works a treat, and cost me $10 bucks :) Nice training aid for only ten bucks…. Cheers HP…

Great Tip Node, that will keep it from vibrating when you make contact with the ball, should feel better. Wish I would have thought of that, now I need to shoot another video.

Hey Foster – Yes, I used the K-Vest for about 2 years in my indoor facility in Los Angeles. It’s a great device for body positions and I found it very helpful for the auditory learner as you can hear when you have it right. The vest can be used to diagnose swing issues for the instructor and it can also be used as a training device to give the student feedback. Regarding swing faults, I found it very helpful for students with spine tilt and posture issues. With that said, the K-vest was the least used tool in my training center, my teaching staff found that in was a little cumbersome to use and that they could see what was needed with simple video. Their is quite a bit of training that goes along with this device so I recommend that if you are interested in having a go, that you find a pro that is certifies to use it and uses it regularly. An advanced tool like the K-Vest will be giving you exact reading and if used a great deal, it can cause the golfer to get caught up in trying to make it perfect. Someone who has many hours using the device will give you just what you need to utilize the tool in the most effective way so that you dont get consumed with perfection. This was my experience as a golf coach; I would be interesting to hear other pro’s experiences. More importantly, I would love to hear from students who have used it as to its effectiveness.

Hi Headpro I was just reading franksmetka’s topic about golf lessons yay or nay. In that one you wrote about the expectations you have for pro’s you hire. Do you know anybody like that in the Brisbane area, preferably on the south or western side?
|
|
Hey Borby – It shouldnt be so hard to find the perfect golf coach for you as their are plenty around your area. Unfortunately, it’s one of the main reasons golfers dont take lessons. They simply dont know anyone or better said, no one has marketed themselves enough to be noticed by a potential costomer like yourself. Tell me about your game and where you play. What do you need the most help with in your game? Let me have a go at finding you the best coach.

Hi I’m actually a beginner recently started. What I really want is to try and get any major swing faults ironed out without obviously modifying my natural swing. The other major thing I would like is to learn the short game right from the start. I’m not a member anywhere yet as for the last few months I’ve been unsure about where we were going to be living. But I’ve just got a new job and I should be stable now. I have been playing in a social comp mostly around southern brisbane at the moment

Headpro, I have used the KVest twice, found I spent more time looking at the screen trying to get the green lights and listening for bells, than actually swinging freely.Very informative, just hard to use because it doesnt works as a mirror image I turn right it turns away from me.

Hey Borby – I recommend that you attend some workshops; it will cost you less and will give you a chance to see different instructors as you may want to take private coaching if you find someone you really like. I believe a workshop type environment is better for someone at your level, you will get on the right track in a fun and relaxed environment. I checked out all the courses and the one I like the most is called Club Pacific which is SE of the city. I spoke to Mark on the phone and he seemed very excited about their clinic program. I told him I was only available on week-ends and he asked me if I would like to start this Saturday from 3:00-4:30pm. He said the 4 week course already started but I could join in as their in only 3 other students, he said he would pro-rate the 3 sessions down to only $114.00 which would be $38.00 per 90 minute session. He asked all the right questions and was very helpful. Unfortunately, I had several other experienced we won’t be talking about.

I hear you TaylarsDad, everyone has a little different experience with it. As a diognostic tool, I found it to be great information to have about my students swing. As a training tool, the feedback can be complicated and overwelming. Still, I have seen several that have used the auditory feedback to make a breakthrough. If interested, see the video below.

Have just watched those videos.I only used the posture and torso/hips units.

Thanks Grant they sound like a pretty good club and set of pros on the website once I’m finished moving I’ll give them a call for a chat. From wandering around proshops asking a few questions on the social comps, I can imagine some of the responses you got from other clubs.

Hp I watched ur swing video that foster put up. Nice, easy swing mate. Because I rotate so much going back, to try and stop it, I try and feel as though my lower body doesn’t work at all. I mean I am trying to swing with arms only and then I think it is much quieter. My question to u is…. Do u actively use ur lower body or is does it feel like it moves for u as part of the swing? Sorry mate hard to explain. I have always tried to use my lower body to generate speed. Which causes spin out. I guess what I’m trying to ask is do u just swing ur arms and ur lower body moves with them. Hope I havnt confused u cause I think I have confused myself!!!

Hey DeepDivot – no worries, happy to help. Their are many ways to go wrong with your lower body positions and movement patterns, its good to get it evaluated to make sure its solid. It’s crucial to having a powerful repeatable swing. In fact, many coaches today believe that swing faults actually originate more in the lower body and the effect is in the upper body. You ask me if I actively use my lower body. If I need to make any changes in my swing, I actively will use a ‘training mindset’ which is an active conscious mind. Most of us relate this mindset to ‘thinking’. When I am playing the course, I use a ‘quiet mind’ which is the subconscious; most of us relate this to ‘not thinking’. Learning to travel between active and quiet mind or training and performance mindset is where you will fond the joy in this game and worth discovering. It sounds like you have a long backswing and try to control it by not turning your lower body. This leads me to believe that you are either very flexible or that you are moving your lower body the wrong way. Any chance of a video, front view please.

Thanks DeepDivot. I Had another look at your swing. Your thread is going nice and you have gotten some good advice. I like your swing, no apparent swing faults and I like what you are working on. You also have a great attitude, you will go far in this game.

Thanks mate.

Hi HP, you’ve probably already been asked this in another thread but i’m too damn lazy to search through them all, so here it is: In this day and age where we all have less time and more things we wish to pursue, what is one simple daily exercise that you would do in your spare time to improve your golf game? Something that if you work 12 hours and get home at 7pm you can use it in the half hour before dinner as a small improvement process.

Hey Dwedge – Nope, never been asked that question on the forum. It’s a good question; many of us look forward to our weekend game but don’t have time to practice during the week. Years ago, I built a putting area in my back yard using a synthetic surface, nothing elaborate but it allowed me to hit a 4 meter putt with adjustable breaks. It was great fun for my kids as we would have a putting championship before dinner with the loser doing the dishes. I made more birdie putts and par saves during those years than you can imagine. From a a physical fitness perspective, I suggest Kettle Bell exercises, easy to keep around the house and very effective in getting your body ready for your weekend round of golf, see video below. From a mental perspective I suggest meditation, it’s a great way to transition from work to home life at the end of a busy day, 5 minutes can leave you refreshed. It can also help you control your thoughts to free yourself from distractions and be ready to enter the Zone on the weekend where you will play your best golf. Hope this helps mate,

Cheers HP. Some good advice there. Especially the meditation. Im like a 5 year old with ADHD at the best of times. It will be good to learn some thought control.
