Hey guys, Ive decided to bite the bullet and revamp my swing totally, I have been very interested in the Gary Edwin stuff for a long time and have found a Pro in Sydney who teaches it. This is my current swing: http://au.youtube.com/watch... http://au.youtube.com/watch... And as you can see it need work! I had my first Right Sided lesson last week in Sydney and it was great, We went through some video of my current swing, then we changed some things: 1- Set Up, Reverse K position I now have a few drills I have been working on for a week now in preparation for my next lesson in a week. One question I have for anyone who know is, Where does the Power come from in the Edwin swing?

I would go dig in the old threads on GE in the forum. You will learn a heap during the search from users of the method.

Have done mate, And there is quite alot of them too!!!.

Sure are! GE can be a hitters or swingers effort. Hopefully some of the GE users can shed some new light into the pattern. Loren has a GE user friend:)

Cheers mate!

Setup with the correct angles reverse k body remains in this position during the back swing to impact. Hitters = Leverage I think you would be more suited to hitting which is heaps easier.

Both ways are easy if you know what you are doing. And two ways to enjoy golf. Like having one girlfriend or two. One might be easier but the other is a challenge. If one is not working, you can try the other or go for a few beers. If you have no luck with the power let me know. We have 2 ways to gain more velocity and 2 more ways to gain more massive impact. Good golf is power golf.

There’s a video in the member’s area on the GE site that explains it – titled “Right sided power’. Cheers

You just don’t want to get them confused.
Reverse every natural instinct you have and do just the opposite of what you are inclined to do and you will probably come very close to having a perfect golf swing. – BEN HOGAN, POWER GOLF |

Cheers, Will have a look at it! Thanks for your help guys too!

Power comes from; Swingers (catch up) using lag

G’day, I’ve got no technical advice regarding the GE swing and where the power comes from, but I have had some lessons with a coach who teaches alot of his method and can say I cannot see any loss in distance. (If that is your real worry with this swing style) May I suggest you go to his website and become a member. It may cost you a little, but if you are going to stick with it, it will be worth while. dee cee

Hey Jack, I have had about 8 lessons on the right sided swing with Kurt Stegbauer from the Sutherland Shire golf academy ( http://www.theridgegolf.com.au ). Which have been pretty awesome, Kurt is a great teacher and a great guy. However in the last 6months I haven’t been golfing that much until very recently due to work commitments, but overall my experience with the right sided swing method has been good,I have enjoyed learning and reading all about it and I do hit the ball alot straighter now and rarely miss a fairway wih the driver, However I have struggled with the whole “keeping level through the hitting area, ie: High right side ect”, I tend to scoop still and my weight still stays back on my right foot. But im sure when I get back into it I would sort it out. My advice is give it a go mate, Its a great repeatable swing when done correctly just look at Pampling/Senior ect, I must admit I have struggled with it tho and I still dont hit the ball very far, Driver goes about 215m…. cheers.

I found this link posted on Richie3Jacks blog. It is Gary Edwin doing a segment on Golf Academy Live. I found it very interesting, very good, and very compatible with hitting patterns I am learning fro Lynn Blake, theDart, and Guru. http://www.thegolfchannel.c...;rsec=296 Now I understand why Mr. Edwin is so highly regarded… Kevin

Awesome isnt it!!!

Very good! Now that I am developing a little understanding of TGM, it is much easier to understand what these great teachers are trying to accomplish. Its as though you can find any theory that makes sense in the book, the theorist is teaching how they “feel” it… If you can’t find it in the book, stay away. :-) Hitting is a pretty simple procedure, and I think Mr. Edwin does a great job of keeping it that way. After spending some time studying his swing, my only disappointment was that he teaches setting up on the hands plane, rather than working with an “on plane” right forearm at address. That is the key to MY structure, and I’m not backing away from it. I learned some really good stuff digging through the website… Kevin

Hi Kevin, Have you considered changing Gary’s set up allignments and incorporating an on plane RFA ? Ive thought about this too when I was playing around w/ his pattern last spring. I hit some amazing irons, but struggled w/ the driver. If anything it really does drive home the importance of a steady head and minimizing most body movment until impact and beyond. I found it very easy to return lowpoint compared to other patterns. Sadly I never got far enough or stayed w/ it really get the pivot down and was basically using all arms. Only problem for me now is a tender back so any pattern Im looking at now has to allow a free hip turn and probably more hands/arms vs. rotary/body powered patterns. Im unsure if this is one of those more back friendly patterns at this point

Hi ColtsFan, Absolutely! I believe you can construct the GE pattern right out of Mr. Kelley’s book. GE’s take on it is excellent. His wonderful work reinforces the fact that I believe Homer Kelley got it right. It’s ALL in there! Kevin

I see a lot of GE in Brian Gay’s swing. Maybe not quite as much axis tilt at address. One quesiotn on GE’s pivot to any of you guys in the know. Does the pivot drive connected arms so you swing left through impact (Hogan post accident ) or does he want the pivot to sling the arms off #4 and then stop while the arms swing out to rt. field?
|
|
Connected, sort of “cut off” finish in his players. Club goes left and back up the plane, but GE doesn’t discuss plane… Kevin

Hy Wasabi, Pretty much still around the same Handicap 11/12 but I am way more consistent now, I dont suffer those blow out scores anymore, Im always within 1 or 2 shots of my handicap. Im sure with more practice and playing I will improved a great deal, I just have not had time this year u untill the last months, so we will see how it goes!.
