Right Shoulder Low

I’ve been unable to incorporate the principle of keeping the right shoulder low at address & through the downswing without it being an ad-hoc rule that doesn’t directly fit with the rest of my set-up and swing. Because it’s an ad-hoc rule to me right now, I can’t really tell when I’m over- or under-doing it, making it hard to find consistency. What’s the best way to understand the connection of the right-shoulder low principle to the rest of a good golf swing?

Welcome to the forum. The right shoulder is only a little lower at address because the right and is lower on the grip. As you take the same grip back into impact the right shoulder will be lower still as impact and a standard address position are different. Instead of at this point working out how high or low the right shoulder should be, hit theGolf School and catch up on the initial articles Fix Your Swing Part One and Two in which you will get to see the basic geometry a golfer uses in motion.
