Find Dart in NSW or me in WA. In Vic Bryan Fergusson who I believe is also working in with Bio off this forum that AB is working with.

Bryan Fergusson at Sandringham,is that correct.

Not exactly sure as my Vic geography is hopeless. AB will know so you will prob get aimed in the exact direction when he hits up the forum next time. Be prepared to learn to crawl, toddle, walk and run. The lower down the power chain you get taken to will be where the power chain is seen to be faulty and needs to be re-routed. Its not about having 10 lessons. Its about you doing it right your way. That may sound funny right now but you will get it really fast.

When you say down the power chain,am I right in saying it starts from the feet? Sorry , dont want to waste to much of your time ,but can the yellow book be bought at golf shops or just on the net

drop me an e-mail to golfguruATiseekgolfDOTcom and I can sort out a book for you. Its a tough read but with help its worth the effort. It is written as a techie manual. Pure gold but not for the faint hearted:)

Thanks guru. Found some info on Bryan Furgusson via the net, dont know how up to date it is but will look some more.

Yossarian: TGM works for anybody. You cannot break the laws of force and motion, you just have to learn how to utilise them efficiently. Beginners learn it really fast as they have less inefficient habits to break.
guru: yeah thats was the perception i was getting. But as a beginner i don’t really understand much of whats being said, i’ve always been a bit of a hands on type learner. So what would be the best first step?
Yossarian: Flat left wrist at impact.. You will learn a lot from asking questions here and reading posts at Lynn Blake.com The thing I found helped the most in my conversion was chip, pitch, punch, full shot progession. I still use it today, if something goes wrong with my full swing I always go back to pitching and punching 3/4 shots for awhile making sure my impact is immaculate. Glennbo: Fergie teaches out of Albert Park driving range and is sensational. I work with Bio off here who is opening a new golf science centre in Sandringham… The technology there will blow your mind! Bio is a golf biomechanist and somebody here that can demonstrate things so simply you will kick yourself afterwards. He is a tough task master, but a great bloke. My golf game has never been better! If you want to drop me a line at fit2firegolf@yahoo.com.au I will be more then happy to talk to you about the guys and put you in touch!

thanks ab, i’ve been back through alot of the articles in the golf school here. Would it be accurate to say that it is the right elbow pulling up the backswing in a way?
The right forearm lifts via a bending right elbow. Grip wise, baseball is fine to learn and then try the other grips once you have a grasp of what feels like what.
so the left wrist and the left elbow should stay as straight as possible, sorry if this seems like a really dumb question.

Look for the Lynn Blake Interview its a brilliant article. I would say take a step back I would not worry about too many complicated components until you have the basics master through chipping, pitching, punching then full shots. I would say my priority learnings early on when I switched to TGM were… Flat left wrist at impact and forward shaft lean rather then throwing the bottom of the shaft through impact Forward swing bottom. Learning to compress the golf ball. Ball first, divot after. Educated hands… learning what the hands are doing and what happens to the golf ball – see flashlight drill in downswing plane part 3 in golf school. There are many avenues you can pursue later but I believe if your impact dynamics and positions are good, you are half way home! Working impact dynamics will make a hell of a difference to your ball striking, you see a lot of pros with different swing styles but their impact dynamics are all perfect and very much the same! As for grip? This is one that will get debated till the cows come home! I use a baseball/ten finger grip and will use nothing else! I have tried overlap early on, interlocking is just plain uncomfortable due to size of fingers. Everyone preaches that it unifies the hands or provides a longer lever. My personal opinion is that I was born with 10 fingers and I will utilise everyone of them, if you educate your hands they will both work together and learn their roles! I don’t think it hurts my game, distance or direction wise! If you like it, stick with it is my advice. Don’t change just to fit the majority!

Not TGM exactly, but from this forum I found two things incredibly helpful. I found focussing on trying to create and maintain flex – by accelariting smoothly – in the clubshaft helped. A lot. Along with this, the other one that sticks in my mind is (Dart’s) instruction to hit “down and out”. Had heard it before, but only made sense once I’d picked up a few things here and forgotten a lot of other BS. Just having the thought cures problems instantly. Taken together, the amoung of good positions doing these two things gets you into is remarkable. Agree with AB on the ten-fingers – use it until it becomes a problem. Vardons and interlocks can shut off the soft feeling in your hands unless you know what you’re doing.
I just want to clarify something, I am not saying use it till it becomes a problem, which indicates that interlock and vardon are superior grips used by better players. If you like it, use it. I can tell you from my experience that 10 fingers is not inferior. Often said to be used by juniors, ladies and weaker golfers. I formerly used overlap as a two handicap golfer, now I use baseball exclusively and will NEVER alter it. Be wary of doing things that are accepted as the “way” because all the good players use it! Educate you hands to perform their tasks, whatever grip you use. I can’t prove it but I believe ten fingers give me a mechanical advantage for power. The proof for me is in the results.

Great A_B, We have to learn that ANYTHING that give you that feeling of “gee that works alright” must not be ignored. God knows I did it a hundred times thinking it was not quite classic. What I found was that the classic players had been experimenting with most of this stuff for years before they finally settled on their “permanent pattern”. Every thing is changing there fore adjustments are required on the basis of “Gee that works better and is mechanically sound as well”

hi just had a round of nine, hit 44 bout 8 over par, tried to focus on keeping the left arm and wrist straight, hit several very nice shots it felt a little weird. Had the feeling i was struggling to keep the left arm straight towards the top of the swing, and was hooking the occasional ball, but no slice which is strange seeing as that was my previous ball flight.
Does it matter if that left elbow bends slightly at the top of the swing? As long as its straight at impact?
Thanks Darty, I have some pretty amazing learning experiences from guys like yourself, guru, bio and lag pressure. I am absolutely positive that if I had not found you guys and TGM when I did, I would be in nowhere near the great position I find myself in! Spending those first few months on impact dynamics has been the best experience I have had in sports. Once those were sorted adding other components to increase my swing effiency just fell and keep falling into place. I am realising how important those impact dynamics are and how glad I am spending so much practice time on them! Without them you pretty much have nothing! Learn them, master them and be able to control them and you become master of the golf ball!

Y: many get away with it. It does mean you need more coordination to get back to the same alignments.
