What is the purpose of the flail drill and what is the best way to make a flail.

Im assuming its to encourage lag?

its very good for learning hand and wrist motion through impact.

get two pieces of pine, one about 40 cm long, the other about 30 cm long.Thtas important as it gives you a space for your hand to hold on to the longer one without getting hit…...

secure them together with the wide flat faces together, pinned about 2cm from the end.

when you practice through the impact zone, the flail should spin freely. If it jams or sticks you may be flipping or under rotating.

A must for any one trying to be a swinger.

is there a vid on you tube regarding this?

Sounds excellent

Beat me to it Styles, I was just about to ask the same thing.

It is too easy. Just two bit of wood a nut and a bolt, drill a hole.

It is the fastest lesson on, “on plane hinge action”. The trick is it needs programming each swing the rest of your life or you will steer the next shot then come over the next. This is done to such a fine degree that is not noticed. A month or two later you slump and wonder where that great swing went.

The sad thing is someone will say, “oh, I think you swayed or you spine angle is out or you are swinging too quick. Of course you are but it is the third or fourth symptom of steering the fifth is hitting it fat, the end is shanking.

We will put this syndrome on tape for you shortly. You will see it for yourself if you keep running it through your mind.

Ugh? So golf is a game that is best played by being able to use a few nuts and bolts with some wood whilst drilling a hole? Many years ago I saw a guy with a rubber-band attached to his head that was attached to a wall to stop his head from moving with a mirror as well and this guy was a golf professional? (He is a former QLD Am Champion) He had lost it I tell you. If you gave him a yo-yo and said it was going to improve his hand action/swing he would try it. It amazes me to this day that he is a AAA Golf Professional. He should be a qualified NBA (W) professional. (Nuts, Bolts and Wood) Dart, there is no fast lessons in golf and golf is not easy for the majority, there are no quick fixes to a swing unless you have the skill or subsequent skill level to implement them. Failing this, enjoy a beer at the 19th.

Vernen,
How about give the flail a try first, The flail gives you the feeling of a good golf swing should feel, If you use the flail everyday of your life golf is that easy, our is gets in the way is the problem and other people interferring which stops people sticking to the plan. Golf is easy we just make it complicated

Vernen,

I missed the constructive bit there.

What where you trying to say that would give us some direction?

Are you sure you heard what I said, exactly?

I think Vernen was saying that the prospect of a beer at the 19th makes him play better…... i can see where he is coming from…. I don’t really understand the rest of the post

A beer does taste nice after the 72nd hole Sonab. I guess some of my posts are cryptic crosswords.

I reckon you missed your profession as a politician as lots gets says to knock without anything constructive coming out in opposition.

Vernen be constructive or it will be a short stay.

Ok, how thick and how wide should these two pieces of wood be?

*forgive me for I am truly stoopid

I find the oblong grip of the pine slat a bit distracting.

Can the flail be done with a cut down broom handle? (I would suppose it can)

Greg Norman, proof that lots of sex before a major competiton is good for you. ;)

Only if you flatten the area where the bottom bit swings around. Not impossible for a good woodworker.

Also, just a heads up, I have just ordered the Vision Track, I read somewhere that Guru thought it was the ducks guts!!

Political Correctness is doctrine fostered by a delusional minority and by the media, which holds forth the proposition it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

I don't suffer from insanity; I enjoy every minute of it.

Prettty helpful tool to get you going OUT the correct way.

my vision track will be with me in the next few days :-)

Made the flail. Now I just need to be told how you’re supposed to use it!

If I was making it again, I’d make the longer piece much longer, perhaps 60cm instead of 40cm

I did a load of right handed and left handed swings and if you read my thread you’ll see how that worked out!

Not putting all the credit there though thats for sure!

Seriously though, a detailed explanation on how to use it would help

Click here and download the video entitled “2. Paul Harts Basic Lesson”.

Paul Hart demonstrates how to use the flail after approximately 2.5 minutes.

thanks for that

Remember to let the left arm roll and bend in the follow through past both arms straight area and you are away.

If there is any FLW to Bent LR the flail will fail to zip through. With a golf club that would mean you just started cooking your dinner early.

Is there a detailed how to make a flail thing somewhere for us less carpenteresque ones?

1-L, it is all there my friend.

Hmmm. Take two bits of wood, one longer than the other (to save fingers) and drill a hole a the bottom end of both bits big enough for a bolt to fit loosely in. Not put wing nut on the screwy end of the protruding bolt. I am no wood man but its pretty simple.
