Guru,it just does,nt matter how many times I read articles by LB,it just makes me wanna get up and go out and hit balls, his explanation of the golf swing is pure and complete.

Well Lynn and I have never actually got together. Chatted on the dog and bone when with Chuck in KC while they worked on their joint workshops and many many many e-mails. He is a top fellow who just inspires the search for real answers. Hope this article does just that and encourages a few to come to our own workshops in Dec and 08 going forward. If eveyone wins lotto, we might entice him way South at some point in time.

Lynn is full of beans about life in general. Give him an audience and he will light up a room with is enthusiasm. The Dart has a lot of these traits and gives to anyone who asks. It must be a thing that comes form reading and finally understanding what Homer Kelly was all about. Now there was a man on the hunt for truth and trying his hardest and darnest to track it down. He may have found a few side tracks but he was good enough to get back to the scent. Lynn, Dart, Chuck, Joe, Danny,Brian and Ben are those I have dealt with that all got the bug and have done what they can in their own ways to help golfing kind. When my time comes, if those guys will have me in their flight, I know my golf will still improve:)

Will someone define these terms, please: accumulation, loading, storage, delivery and release.
|
|
Hi Laney, These a the words that describe what every weapon does when it is doing its work. Think of hammers, swords, spears and golf clubs. Accumulation is gathering energy by bending an arm or wrist angle and now we can load them by putting a calculated amount of pressure on them. We now store that energy for later use by maintaining the angles and pressure while going somewhere. Delivery is what postmen do, they deliver this package to the right place then the angles are thrown out straight through the ball or released. This anyone can do, but it must be done smoothly, even if you miss the ball. Simply keep doing it ‘till the ball gets in the way. People tend to increase the loading in an attempt to generate distance or decrease the loading for the ball to square up the club and stop their slice. If they just moved smoothly at what ever pressure they selected their accumulation, storage, delivery and release of energy could be controlled. You just have to do it

In case you did not get to read the entire Wishon article on shaft action (no Lads, NOT that shaft) I repeat this little offering here. quote Despite the tendency of the club head to overtake the grip and cause the shaft to take on a forward leaning aspect, as Mr Wishon states is the case (club head throwaway in TGMese), the alignments that Tiger achieves in Fig.3 are those that we should be trying to emulate. Read and re-read the Lynn Blake interview. Then read it again. Flat left wrist, bent right wrist. Flat left wrist, bent right wrist. Flat left wrist, bent right wrist. Flat left wrist, bent right wrist. Got it? As a G.O.L.Fer it is your bounden duty to Sustain the lag.

Probably a good theme for a tattoo

Sure better than Ben Cousins:) I found reading Tom’s article as a fitter and teacher really a reality check in terms of what most players do and what good players can acheive. Knowing how and why to maintain the FLW just unleashes all the swings inherant its power. When average players get shown why and how to do it, it does not take long to use it. Yet so few players get shown. Now ask why is that so?? !

Very good Paul! Excellent info from Lynn – he always manages to break it down so it sounds almost too easy, doesn’t he?

Hi Matt, Hows life up in Wisc?

I did a 3 day instructors school with Lynn last December. Excellent! He answers questions with …well answers, not further questions. His site is the same. If you get a chance to hear him speak do it. Allan

Finishing up school (“university’) in MN this coming spring, and after that it’s off into the real working world. Life is good right now!

Dart, Thanks to your clear explanation, I believe I finally understand all these terms. and I can relate them to my swing. I can’t wait to get out and practice with these new ideas floating around. This may be your best post yet..

“Smooth” answer there Dart:)

Yes indeed thanks for dropping by. Always fun to see a familiar face amoungst the crowd.

OK, I am inspired by this interview and have vowed not to pick up a club other than my PW till I have this flat left wrist thing figured out. Only question I have is how will I know when I’m ready to move on? Should I be aiming to hit X amount of balls inside a certain diameter them move on to another club. I’m pretty sure I dont have the FLW but can still land some where I want to.)

Put a credit card down the back of your glove. If you feel pressure from the card through the impact interval you have failed. Or buy a tac-tic which will do the same thing. Or video the swing until you get it. Once you hit a few shots not flipping you will learn what it feels like and can monitor it a lot more easily.

Learn to chip. It may take you hours, days weeks or months to learn to keep that pesky left wrist to stay flat. You will work out what moves what in doing so.
