Let me know what you think!

Next to no wrist cock at the top. No lag, club looks cast all the way by the time it reaches hip height. Resulting in little power. I suspect also some OTT action happening. On the positive, your finish looks reasonably balanced.

Hey samk – thanks for your swing, your swing is pretty typical of what golf coaches see. Agree with Danz, I would assume you are a pretty straight and consistent player but don’t have a great deal of distance, better than average off the tee but not great with short irons and or chipping, misses are fat and thin shots.

Below – Carling Colling will show you a little something about your wrists…

Wrist Hinge

Thanks for the feedback.

My lack of lag has been the thing I’ve been working on for a while now. I haven’t found a drill that has helped me find a way to increase my lag and stop casting.

@HeadPro – you’re right in terms of my distance, I’m probably a little longer than average and I’m quite straight.
I don’t tend to hit fat and thin shots though, and my chipping is quite good.

I’ll continue haunting youtube and watching lag videos, hopefully something sinks in!

On that topic, anyone else know any good videos/articles/drills for tackling casting and increasing lag?

My number one goal over summer is to get this sorted.

samk123,
The reason to cast is because your are slow down premature in your golfswing. You have a power leak in your swing sequence.
This article will help you understand what I am talking about. As read about holding lag. What was interesting the more we superficial hold lag the move we throw it away. Ths article will explain why.

Thanks guys!

Spent a few hours on the range today really trying to work on my release.

Lots of misses, shanks, fat shots today unfortunately.

I tried really hard to work on my release, but even when I felt like I was hitting it a mile and releasing properly, slow-mo showed I was casting.

Something to work on over summer :(

Thanks Scott! Great article – the last paragraph especially.

I’ll work on accelerating through the ball.
I tried play a few punch shots at the range, excessively cocking my wrists – still had an early release :(

How does on “do zenolink”?

I haven’t heard of it before.

Samk123,
In the house of Zen I have plenty of info regarding ZenoLink you can take a look at. We have been behind the scenes for over 25 years working with US and LPGA tour players, we are service for golf coaches to use to be able to measure their athletes golf swing in 3D to identify all the break downs in their movement patterns that rob them or power and accuracy. We then create and individualised training program built around your 3D data to improve the swing sequence. In your case stop your casting and train you how to generate true lag.
Where are you based ?

I’m down in the south eastern suburbs, and play mainly at Churchill Park Golf Club.

I’ve been hitting the range pretty regularly over the last few days to build up my lag.
Went on the course yesterday and smoked a 4iron 190-200m. And it flew with a nice piercing trajectory. Unfortunately I’m only hitting these shots about 1/10 times, mainly due to my fear of mishits with the new swing.
All it took was a few Mark Crossfield drills and watching Tiger’s swing in slow-mo!

Now to do it consistently…..
