Cooking spray on clubs - impact feedback

I was just watching a video on a training aid called ‘Mark-it’. A spray that you apply to the club face which can show you where you’re hitting the ball on the face. It looks like this product and similar ones sell for around $10 (100-150 applications). This got me thinking, couldn’t you just use a can of cooking spray? It would give the same feedback and be much cheaper. I was wondering if anyone has tried this, and if anything thinks it would damage the club? I would tend to think it would be fine as long as you make sure you clean your clubs afterwards.

Plain old talcum powder does the job admirably…a very light covering is all that’s required and it’s very easy to wipe off afterwards with your towel. Saves a lot of messing around with cleaning and shows up the impact mark distinctly.

Plus 1 for talc. Masking tape is t a bad alternative either.

I’ll give the powder a go! Thanks.

It’s important from a rules standpoint to clean your clubs after doing this. If you’re in comps, you could be in violation during a comp round with a foreign material on the club. Electrical tape works also. Shows up a little better than masking tape.

No worries on this one, I always give my clubs a good cleaning before comp. It gives me the illusion that it will somehow make me play better…
