Good strategy. Hit as many fairways and greens as you can. Fat, safe part of green and drop a long putt and all of a sudden they all become more makeable. And like Zen said – no swing mechanics on the course. Back your swing and game, grip it and rip it. Don’t get intimidated or sucked in to changing things because you see others with specific pre-shot routines etc. Yours might be that you don’t have specific one and that works for you. As long as you visualise the shot you want (which I am sure you do already) and then back yourself to execute. A little anecdote of a similar situation. My brother should not have been a fast bowler – skinny, under six foot and not extremely quick, but he worked hard and opened the bowling for a district first grade 1st eleven side in Melbourne for 13 years taking 480 wickets @ an average of 19 and has life membership to the MCC. He played a few Vic 2nd eleven games but was not quite up to the next level, prob just lacking a yard of pace and a better slower ball. But he bowled to state and national bats such as Matty Elliot, Brad Hodge, Rob Quiney, Cameron White, Mathew Wade etc etc and got to play with Abdul Qadir and Carl Hooper. Without shovelling too much brotherly love, he is a pretty quiet, well respected, all round nice guy…...off the field. On the field he is an arrogant, cocky, sledging animal. Rather than get intimidated by national and state players coming down to his level, he would see it as them stepping on to his turf and that all the pressure was on them to not get out to him. And he would let them know. “I wouldn’t bother going on tour if you are going to miss balls like that!”, “Come on is that it!” “You just ran out the guy who was keeping your side in it!” He was always hard but never personal and had the respect of everyone whom he played against. And this attitude of not being intimdated or concerned but rather inspired and arrogantly confident was a major reason he got the most out of himself and might be a good way you can think going in to the NSW PGA. Mind you I am not saying you should focus on their game and try to put them off or anything but if your focus and commitment to your game is strong you can turn your underdog status into a real momentum gaining positive. Walk with your chin up, confidently eye off the competition that are coming into your domain and be a danger to them, someone to watch out for and maintain it through to Saturday night when you can celebrate knocking off half the field by making the cut or be proud that you gave it your best physically, strategically and mentally. There is nothing more dangerous to a pro than someone who you should beat serving it right up to with superior confidence, relaxed attitude and momentum. Be dangerous.

GS, I have been on the other side and liked the idea of playing the guy for lunch. Don’t take any shots start, and make the bastard earn the lunch. What can a hamburger cost. It might keep him real too. Even if he says piss off, he thought about you and your ability.

Nah just walk up and ask, “Loser buys lunch?” If they say no then they will be thinking you will be thinking they are worried about losing.

The greatest game ever played. |

gs, He will love you for it. He does not know who you are or how to handle you. It makes his day easy. See what he likes to play for but don’t take any shots start. That is an easy way to loose money. I would offer a shot start for $10, 2 for $20, 3 for $30 and 4 $40. The more shots they took the worse they played. It is all in the posture. His and yours. Either he stands over you or you stand over him. Works most times. Prolly not when he is twice as good. But what if you do win.

This is some of your best work Zen. Are you claiming that he is some sort of modern day Elvis and is going to bob up on the Graceland range some day soon? Apart from your correct assessment that Razaar’s advise was rubbish, you should apologise. (quickly)

Zen, are you waiting for Easter Sunday in case he re-appears?

Zenolink might be the key to resurrection.

Lol. You can say that his feet are firmly planted in the ground.
