Hi All,

I have some free time late Dec in Melbourne. I’ve looked at where I need to be and have concluded that I may get a round in at a course that is no more than 1 hour’s drive from Melbourne airport.

What do you guys suggest?

looking for public course. I’m from NSW and have a golflink # if that’s any help.

Cheers!

Within an hour you’ll get to a few. But if I had to pick it would be Goonawarra. No more than 15min I’d say as well.

BMan’s Big Bendigo Slog – 7th July, be there! You know you want to.
Never broken 36pts in an OOM… seriously.

Keilor isn’t bad.

Hi, my name is Steve & I’m a golfaholic, I even go to the meetings
Melb Southern Suburbs 3195

He who rules the short game takes home the gold…Dave Peltz
Australia’s most mediocre golfer.

I thought somebody would have suggested Hidden Valley and Growling Frog.
And Eynesbury.

32369 in the Lexus Cup, I’m kicking 32370s arse woohoo

Its not that good either

If you hire a helicopter you could get to the national no worries

It’s actually royal keilor where board shorts and tank tops are the expected norm.

Don’t forget Tullamarine as well. Nothing like teeing off whilst a 747 is firing on all cylinders on its initial climb. Maxb you looking for some Vic chums for this?

Growling frog would be great. Play that over eynesbury.

Ghetto train – get on it.
Bandit express.

Winner C grade OOM #3 Patterson River.

GhettoGolfer, it’ll be my last day in melbourne before flying off to NZ (for a wedding and Cape Kidnappers). My wife and I are just looking for a nice course to play before our flight out in the evening.

Want to join us? Happy to join you at Growling frog for sure!

Eynesbury is probably smack on 1 hour.
Growling frog would be 40 ish
Sunshine would be 30

Melbourne airport is an ok track. Not up to the level of the above 3 but it has bloody good fairways. $22 or so.

…..

Ended up playing Eyenesbury and really enjoyed it. Growling Frog next time i’m down there

Growling Frog and Eynesbury are very similar courses, same architect, generally flat site, repetitive design.
Very enjoyable courses built on sites not providing natural features to build inspiring holes.

Next time, can I suggest you consider some sandbelt courses?
They are considerably more expensive and will require some small effort to arrange letters of introduction, but the quality of the golf is outstanding.

Royal Melbourne West and Kingston Heath are not to be missed. They are truely great courses.

Easiest way on to RMW and KH among others is watch out for charity days, usually open to anyone with a handicap… around $120 including lunch is a steal IMO.

There’s many a slip ’tween a cup and a lip.

Thanks for the tips.

Played RM East the day before Eyenesbury and have played RM West in the past.

Have not played KH yet..
