Touching in Hazard

What is the correct way to play out of a hazard?I was under the impression that you can nestle your club amongst long grass as long as the club is not grounded. If you start your swing and hit something and stop is that also a penalty?

You can not ground your club when you play a ball in a hazard, but correct – you may nestle it in the long grass.

If you stop/control your swing it’s not a stroke.

Stupid questions are rare - stupid answers are much more common!

I depends on what you hit and why you stop.
If you hit the ground in front of your ball and a stone in the ground prevents you making contact with the ball. Then you have made a stroke.

If you catch a branch on your backswing and stop the swing because it distracts you, then there is no stroke.

What sort of situation did you have in mind?
