Wrong hole in one!!!

The other day i was at a small par 3 course teeing off from the 2nd. The 2nd shares a tee with the 8th and the holes are in the same sort of direction only 25 mtrs apart. Miss hit aiming at the 2nd and it went in the hole at the 8th!!!!! (would of been great if it had counted!)
What is the rule here?
A drop from outside the green?

Damn… I doubt that would have happened more than a few times ever!

Political Correctness is doctrine fostered by a delusional minority and by the media, which holds forth the proposition it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

'If you can read this, thank a teacher, and since it's in English, thank a soldier!

Happens a hell of a lot when 9hole courses have 2 sets of tees and 2 flags on each green

I suspect there will be a decision covering it, but if not, I’d be treating the hole cup as an immovable obstruction and placing the ball at the nearest point of relief.

I am assuming that the greens are separate, not shared, if so wrong putting green proceed under 25-3.

Ah yes, it’s not a double green upon reading no3putt’s post again.

Yeah greens were sperate, not sure what you mean by proceed under 25-3.

25-3. Wrong Putting Green

a. Interference

Interference by a wrong putting green occurs when a ball is on the wrong putting green.

Interference to a player’s stance or the area of his intended swing is not, of itself, interference under this Rule.

b. Relief

If a player’s ball lies on a wrong putting green, he must not play the ball as it lies. He must take relief, without penalty, as follows:

The player must lift the ball and drop it within one club-length of and not nearer the hole than the nearest point of relief. The nearest point of relief must not be in a hazard or on a putting green. When dropping the ball within one club-length of the nearest point of relief, the ball must first strike a part of the course at a spot that avoids interference by the wrong putting green and is not in a hazard and not on a putting green. The ball may be cleaned when lifted under this Rule.

Penalty for Breach of Rule:

Ah yes, it’s not a double green upon reading no3putt’s post again.

If the greens were joined and the player holed out in the wrong hole, then relief is taken under the GUR provisions as the hole is a “hole made by a greenkeeper” and Rule 25-1 is applicable – see Decision 16/7.

See also Dec 25-3/1 for a possible variation where a joined green is separated by the Committee..

Thanks thief.

Reminds me of the joke about the wife who thought she’d see what golf was about and walked beside her husband as he played.

He drove into the woods at the first and had to crouch under a tree and hook around a termite mound to get back where the sun shined.

And he miraculously did it, but ended up precariously perched on a steep creek bank. After yet another miraculous shot, he plugged under the lip of a greenside bunker, which somehow he managed to hole for par

As he proudly raked the bunker, the wife walked to the hole, peered in and said:

“Ha – think you’re pretty smart don’t you – let me see how you hit this one”.

Cheers guys!!

I nearly holed out on the wrong green at kempsey one day. Hit a shank on a short par 3 and it hit the pin on the green of a par 4 which came from the other direction ( about 40m off line) . The ball sat about 2 inches from the hole.

sad thing is I’ve never had an ace. It would have been a real case of Murphy’s law had it actually gone in the hole.

Ahh the old hole in one on the 7th green from the 3rd tee…a few have claimed to have that one.

possibly. Right up in the far south western corner of the course. it probably was about the 3rd
