Handicap

G’day golfers.
The course I play on has a 170 meter par 3 that has a stroke index of 5, I My handicap allows me two strokes on this hole, yesterday I was experimenting with my swing and grip and popped the ball on the green subsequently rolling it within centimeters of the hole, in competition if i had holed it what would the stableford score be?

trying to break 100

You get 2 points for a nett par, which for you is 5 strokes.

An ace is therefore 4 under for the hole, or 2 + 4 = 6 points.

Nice effort BTW, can’t say I’ve left the ball that close to a pin on a par 3.

Reverse every natural instinct you have and do just the opposite of what you are inclined to do and you will probably come very close to having a perfect golf swing. - BEN HOGAN, POWER GOLF

I thought 5 points was the maximum?

There’s no actual maximum.

The (highly unlikely) practical maximum for men would be a golfer with two handicap strokes holing out on a par-4. That would give him 1 for 7. (I think you could forget about someone of that ability holing out on a par-5.)

I’ve seen a female golfer off a handicap of 45 score a birdie on a par-4 where she got three handicap strokes … 3 for 6.

A friend also scored a 6-pointer by holing out on a par-4 where he got one handicap stroke (his only hole-in-one is an albatross).

good to know, not that i’m likely to score high points.

played with a bloke who had two 5 pointers in the one round. Both birdies on double bungers. Still only had 37 pts.
