Does anyone know why 460cc was chosen as max head size on driver

I havent been able to find out why that single figure was chosen...

and does anyone think its too high...maybe 400 would have been better...

but why was that figure chosen...and when did it occur...

 

I think that was about the largest on the market at the time of making the limit. Some 500CC and 600CC drivers came out soon after. Probably a good thing that the rule makers acted when they did although I agree that 400CC would have been a reasonable limit.

I'm pretty sure Integra had their 600 or 650cc (So Long?) drivers out prior to the rule change.

the problem with womens sports is all the bitching after it.
at least with mens its over when the final whistle blows.

 

Golfsmith have a 1000 cc model on the market right now wishon has a 480 cc model on the market with a cor of .900 why cause some people dont play comps so they can and do use whatever they want.

If someone tells you you are a swinger and then proceeds to try and make you a hitter ... run Quickly...

It is only a novelty club though. The head weighs 315 grams and it would be impossible to generate any reasonable clubhead speed.

You could generate the clubhead speed with a run-up and a very flat swing with a head size that big.
