marked partners ball by mistake

Any penalty for marking / picking up partners ball in a 4bbb match?

If you accidently (and in good faith) marked it then just put it back. No dramas.

If they told you not to touch it and you went ahead and marked it anyway then you have a problem.

The ball was his partner's in a four-ball match. Read the first paragraph of Rule 20-1.

In that case - scratch the bit about the problem relating to "told you not to touch it" tongue.gif
(assuming that it was marked correctly)

So was I authorised to do it (by being a partner), even though there was no verbal instruction?

The very first sentence of 20-1 Lifting and Marking says:

"A ball to be lifted under the Rules may be lifted by the player, his partner or another person authorized by the player. In any such case, the player is responsible for any breach of the Rules."

Clear enough? smile.gif
