matchplay, curly one

A friend asked me to find out this so asking the experts.

Her young friend is playing in a junior pennant team with both boys and girls but mostly boys. The problem comes regarding which index do they use (as its handicapped) because to date, despite being lowest marker, she has to give strokes to her male opponents using mens index.which she believes disadvantages her because theyr usually distance hole which despite her enormous length, is impossible to match them.. Equally the boys may find disadvantage in girls index.

Which indexed should be used when lowest marker is female and her opponents are male?

Thanks.

The recommendations vary from one national authority to another. What country are you in? Is the competition handicapped?

What other rules are we not playing by?

Australia and its handicapped. Ta.

G4, they use the match play index, not the stroke index.
Strokes are given on these holes in this order:
8 12 4 16 10 6 14 2 18
7 11 3 15 5 13 9 17 1,
assuming that play starts on the first hole.

Match play index should be printed on the score cards.

Exactly as posted by OB. This indexing system is designed to share any shots , given or taken, spread equally over the 18 holes.
this would mean that any distance advantage would be purely coincidental.
