Golf rules courses

I am contemplating doing one of the Golf NSW rules courses this year.

Has anyone here done one or a similar course somewhere else?

I would be interesting in becoming accredited as a part of it and being available to help out in competitions down the track.

Have a look at this site. Levels 1 and 2 are online and not restricted. It’s a good place to start.

Thanks rogolf – will check it out.

Contact Golf Aus they will help I did the accreditation when I was JPO for our district and the head ponco was then from NSW Golf.

I have done the Qld Club level rules accreditation course. Twice actually. second time was really just to refresh my rules knowledge. Passed both times. second time I was given the opportunity to do a state level course But unfortunately at the time I could not afford the time off work. The course & exam is not all that difficult & it is an advantage to know the rules & have accreditation when certain people wish to question your Rulings & Your Credentials to make them.

I did the Golf Vic club-level course.

You go along one evening for a 3 hour course, then go back two weeks later for a 3 hour exam. 100 questions, 80% correct to pass.

Easy peasey, only took one hour, except I got 3 wrong! One of which because I didn’t read the question properly. I chose the answer of disqualifictaion (because the player was a naughty girl), but the correct answer was ‘disqualified on the hole she was playing’. WTF? It was stableford, a gem of info I used to determine it was stroke play, not match play. Of course, you only wipe the hole in stableford if you do the wrong thing.

I’ve been invited a few times to do the state level course but haven’t acceded to the requests.

Maybe it was 50 questions ??? Still, need 80%.

would have been 50 questions – in the old days 80% to pass and 92% to be eligible to do state level course.

all the state associations run the same program these days.

Its well worth the time.

Have booked in to do the GolfNSW course at Kogarah in June. Looking forward to it.

If I pass with the required mark, I will look into doing a higher level down the track.

Last night completed the GolfVic rules accreditation exam at club level – successfully. There were fifty questions to be answered over a three hour period. From my perspective it wasn’t a walk in the park. The bulk of the questions set out typical situations during a comp where a ruling might be required.

Very little relating to basic rules, but Notes and especially Exceptions played a big part in selecting the correct answer from two to five possibilties. You had to read and allow for every word in a question, as three or four words, seemingly of no consequence, tacked on to the end of a paragraph could change the whole flavour of the situation being analysed.

Callaway Diablo Edge kit – magic. 11deg driver, 3 & 5 woods, 3,4,5 hybrids, 4 through SW irons plus GW, all with senior flex graphite shafts, and Odyssey White Ice #9 putter. 5 wood, & 4 and 5 irons tend to get left behind.
