My apprentice is a natural left hander but today we only had my RH clubs and the freak can hit it straight with them (Better than his left) Is it against the rules to switch from right to left handed clubs during a game?

Not against the rules. But the total of all clubs must not exceed 14.

I play right handed but putt left handed tee bull. I’ve also seen a few players over the years who have a left handed club in their bag to use in case their ball is up against a tree, and only a left handed shot is possible.

Just ban lefties altogether, they are an abomination and look really freaky when they address and hit the ball. Get rid of them and problem solved.

Damn guys i will try and post his swing, it looks horrible but hits it straight every time

A ball hit with that little a clubhead speed will generally always go straight ….full swing is another story …

Knew I would get a bite eventually.

Sorry Rawhitti Chopper “full swing is not another story” this is one of those swings where all you so called “experts” have no great input on the swing Does not matter how hard he swings it or what club he uses (Except Driver) he hits the thing right where he wants it and better than using left handed clubs with a normal swing. The guys is in work boots for gods sakes which are pointing at me filming. We moved him around the paddock, different angles and distances. He did need a little help with club selection but other than that just gets that little white ball as close to the hole as he can.

I am left handed, played county level badminton at school, right footed, S form 1st div as a kid. Racquet sports I will swap hands randomly but prefer my left 80% f the time. Can’t figure any of this out at all ! :D Ps, watched the video,he is what us scots call a Corry fister, he holds his hands the wrong way(as if he was playing lefty) .
I’ve tried seeing things from your point of view but I can’t get my head that far up my arse !! |

Love it Blindman, did you actually play badminton at school with the right foot!! Should post a you tube of your swing?

Hmmm …...... as someone who plays left handed and has a handicap (off 8), I’ve just starting practising golf right handed. Sadly though, it would appear that I am not allowed to obtain a right handed handicap and to keep the left handed one, according to the USGA rules section. (I have just asked for clarification from Golflink) Bit of a bummer that if it’s true, as I would like the flexibility of playing either hand, and to a recognised handicap in comps, for whichever hand I felt like on the day. I don’t think I have the time or ability to get my right handed golf up to playing to 8 though, nor wish to blow that handicap out by playing right handed in comps …........ so I might just stay with the right handed in practice mode and maybe if it improves a bit, in the odd social round. It will be interesting to see what Golflink come back to me with though …......

Gaz, Codboy @ Turtleman has already looked into it. Yarrawonga GC were going to keep a handicap for him as a “lefty” but he had to use his right hand handicap for comps etc. Now he’s done his back playing left handed he’s given that idea away.

I guess Yarrawonga are an accomodating sort of club in that they will go try to do the right thing by Deano, but its not right I reckon Frank that the overseeing body are handists (as opposed ro racists). I reckon you should be able to have two handicaps …... Just get assigned a new number and a new card for the opposite hand, and use that one, whislt continuing to use the old GL card, for when playing with your normal hand …........ How hard can it be? Do they know which hand you are playing with anyway? (I can’t remember if it is on the form or not)

There’s a bloke in our club who has equal number of left and right in his bag. Driver is left, 3 wood right…..he doesn’t know what he’s gonna hit on the fairway until he gets to his ball….carries 2 gloves, decides on the shot then puts on the appropriate glove…weird.
Consultancy….if you’re not part of the solution, there’s big bucks to be made prolonging the problem. |

To the best of my knowledge, no handicap system in the world allows a player to have two handicaps.

So there’s a bloke who joins a new club, finds a friendly group to play with and introduces himself…warning that he plays both-handed but he might be 15minutes late for the next game. He turns up at the next game – on time- and plays right handed and shoots a very credible 78 off the stick. They adjourn to the 19th, share a bit of bull-n-beer and they part company, looking forward to their next round but as they shake hands he warns he might be 15mintues late and unsure if he will play left or right-handed. He turns up at the next game – on time – but this time he plays left-handed and again shoots under-80 for the round. Same parting commentary after the 19th, (left/right, 15minutes lates) but looking forward to the next round. He turns up at the next game – on time – and again shows his consistency by shooting sub-80 playing right handed. At the 19th his new-found friends ask him about the ritual of warning he might be 15minutes late, and noting his ability to play either left or right-handed but either way shoot very good golf. He explains…I wait until I wake up on the morning of the round and see if my wife is sleeping on her left side or her right side. If on the left, I play left handed, if on her right, I play right handed. Ahhh, they say, we understand. But what happens if she is sleeping on her back (or tummy)? Ahhh, he says, that is when I will be 15minutes late!

If you were to have two handicaps there would have to be a rule prohibiting a right handed player playing a left handed shot and vice versa. It would totally change the game.

Once saw a golf training video with Butch Harmon and one of his sons.

As I said. Unofficial.
