TaylorMade Got A Lot Of Underserved Credit For The Open

Hamilton is paid to wear the TaylorMade staff hat but appearently he doesn't think too much of their equipment. Just looked at his bag and was surprised that the only TM equipment in his bag is just the driver...even funnier when you think about the fact he only used that club once on Sunday and it almost lost him the championship.

Driver: TaylorMade R540 XD 9.5º with Fuji Pro 95 shaft
Hybrid Club: Sonartec MD 17º (bent to 14º)
Irons: (2-PW) Mizuno MP-33
Wedges (SW, LW) Cleveland 588 56º, 60º
Putter: Ping B60
Ball: Titleist Pro V1

Personally I think taylor made gets a lot of undeserved credit in general.
Their drivers are way overpriced for their performance.
Their irons are reasonably good, but again overpriced.
They make some of the uggliest and expensive putters that really dont feel any better than the old style mallet putters you can buy for $20.
If they didnt pay the tour players so much to use their clubs, I'm sure they wouldn't.

Bit harsh methinks. I'm a born again component man but have no problem with the quality of TM clubs through the years.
Overpriced?, most probably, but they're hardly the only OEM guilty of that, no-one forces you to buy, vote with your wallet.

After reading that again, it was probably a bit over the top.
I'm not really against their clubs, I actually really liked the rac irons.
A few months back I walked into a golf shop and told the guy I was willing to pay whatever it costs to buy a good set of clubs.
He brought over heaps of clubs and let me hit them all. Mizunos, Macgreggors, Nikes, Callaways. If he had them in the store I tried them out.
I liked the TM RAC irons, and decided that the RAC LTs were best suited for me.
I then asked how much and he said $1200, my jaw dropped. I managed to get him down to around $900, but that was only if I also bought a driver.
Most of the clubs he pointed out were around that price.
I naively, or stupidly, thought that the TM clubs might have been fairly cheap. They seemed to look and feel like it. At least at the time anyway.
I now know better, but I still feel that they werent worth the price, when compared to a set of forged blades at the same price.

Adidas has way too much money

Think about NIKE golf, have they really brought out any spectacular product?
maybe the best is the ignite and slingshot
but those are also imo mediaocre products

Don't say that!

:x

Kind regards,

Ben (Ducky).

I've hit their blades, and they are pretty good.
I believe tiger does use them and likes them.
