I was speaking with Golf World and Golf Works today doing some sneaky dealing (well trying anyways :wink: ) and they both rumoured that as soon as the new Australian Titleist distributor (Acushnet) gets settled in November apparently the 983 will not be $600 retail anymore!!! They hinted at $1000 8O
This may have been just a sales tactic but I just thought I would post it to let you guys know.

I spoke to my clubfitter and he told me the opposite...about a week ago, I was asking him about getting a 980f and he told me too wait(how often would that happen @ a golf shop) because they were coming down in price...

Sounds like the kinda crap I used to tell people when I worked optus--"yes sir this is the last phone we have at this price"

All I can say if they go up to $1000, they will have a hard time selling them...$600 is a fair bit for the avg golfer, but still within reach

I know for a fact as I have seen the new pricelist that when Acushnet takeover next month that the wholesale price will come down on such things as wood, irons and wedges by substantial amounts but the balls will stay roughly the same. This does not mean that the retail price will come down but instead they are trying to make the brand more profitable for the on course guys so they will stock the gear. Also why these off course discount shops will say that is most of these off course shops will not get an account with acushnet as they want to stop these outlets bastardising the product and keep profit margins in the porduct so the clubs pro will support it.

Hmmm. some interesting stuff there cam1998. The only problem I see is that for a place like Toowoomba that means we will be paying more for our Titleist products there ever :x and we will still have the poor customer service and lack of product knowledge.

of the deal was he would get distribution of Titleist,Footjoy etc...in Australia.

Mau, the brisbane boys would know the exact location of the store but it is Golf World Virginia. I spoke to a guy on Sunday and he hinted that they had a fair bit of stuff left!!
