Steel in driver

If any of you have used steel in your driver what do you recommend. I want my driver length to be shorter and i wouldnt mind experimenting with steel. I have a SS of probably 105 with driver and hit it medium height.

Thanks

I can't help you, but can say that I hit my mates circa 1985 laminated 2 wood with steel shaft at the range the other day. Steel shaft felt damn heavy, but the ball flew very nicely!

taylor360,

I am just getting my shaft changed to a regular flex Dynamic Gold cut to 43.5 inches. The TX90 is another option but you couldnt cut it as short as it is lighter than the DG.

a DGX100 43.5 inch fitted to the 975J.VS felt AWESOME the last time I swung one...

I had a DGS300Lite fitted into the TM320 head...very whippy...

i was checking to see if a nippon 950fw would suit but the longest steel they do is a 43.5" to be installed in a 3 wood. unless 43" would suit?

Ring the guys at golfclub innovations or phil at infocusgolf.com.au (locally brissie)

DGX100 seems to be the choice? you have to trim the DG lites in stiff to make them stiffer, they are whippy in the S steel flex.

my dg Lite in R i had in the vsteel was actually A flex! biggrin.gif

What possible reason could you have for putting a 43.5 inch shaft in steel in a driver? ARe you Tiger Woods?? 8O

nah...Adam Scott... laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

anything more than 44" steel...seems to become very whippy...is this right???

weird thing...the DGSLite was trimmed inch and a half...

just something the club guys said...my dglite R was hilarious...helicopter material.

I had a 975D with a DGX100 full insert for about a year and it was a great great driver, did lose a little bit of distance (10mtrs) but hit it solid at times that I did not care...sold it and bought a TM300 and 360 and now have the 580 with Fuji 757...longer and way more forgiving!!! laugh.gif
