Srixon balls

I'm a big fan of the Srixon Hi-Brid tour ball but alas stocks
seem to have dried up. I knew they were going to be discontinued
and should have done an Elaine ( the sponge episode) and bought
up everything. Does anyone know when the new URX ball is supposed
to be in the shops? If it's going to be a long wait any
suggestions to tide me over? I've heard the U-Tri balls from
Precept are good.

never did try the Hi-Brid...worked in stages...tried the Soft Feel, didn't like it, tried the Hi-Spin, hated it...never made that jump to the Hi-Brid... isn't the URX meant to be in store now??? would be weird if there was a full page ad spread on them without having anything to show for it... a little p-oed off about the advertising of Srixon...Allenby was sposed to have been using the Hi-Brid, when the new ad mentions he's been using the URX all this time... I'll recommend the UTRIES first, and wait for the UTRITOUR to come out...
again...all the hoopla is with the shorter guys gaining more distance etc etc...

Matt, Srixon's are a great ball, but I've converted to the U-Tri as Mau suggests. Give it a go, you wont go back. Better price too. Jack

Matt
They had them on sale at the PGA golf show a mate of mine uses
them and was having trouble getting them as well. House of golf Church st Parramatta had them as well (I think it was House of golf) it used to be called just golf the guy I was talking to was Ben but I don't have any other details perhaps Bebox could ask Nigel Ayeling (apologies for spelling) as he used to run the store before

Mau, The new Cally ball is called the HX Tour. I have just got two Precept U-Tri Tours and will be putting one into play on Sunday will report back.

I used to like Srixon balls ,but as i got a better feel for the golf ball i noticed that they were very hard and not very good of quality, even their soft feel feels like a rock.

anyone tried the U tri spin :?: :? I can get some REAL cheap, but i've never hit 'em... can anyone compare them to some other ball for me  How much will these U-tri tour balls be worth when they come out here :?:

Srixon URX - isn't it in store now?? Tried some Srixon Pro-UR a few weeks back (went foraging in hubby's bag) - not my sort of thing...
Stick to my ultra low compression Maxfli Noodle girly balls,
thanks... Golfgirl

Didn't see anything you shouldn't did you?

phealey21 ,
Just a small fortune's worth of miscellaneous golf equipment
(you would not believe how many gloves/tees/balls this guy
carries around...) and some TAB betting slips that I probably
wasn't supposed to see... GG

Another vote for the Utri Extra Spin. Was previously using a combo of either the A10 (a top ball) and the Srixon Soft Feel. Have tried the Hi Brid Tour. I like both the Soft Feel and the Metal Mix and also bought a sleeve of the UR on Saturday and was overly impressed. For the price the Precept balls are the way to go.
|
|
I like the metal mix as much as the hybrid, especially at slightly over $30/doz. But this was atleast a year ago, I assume they are superseded as well?
|
|
Pretty sure the metal mix is superseded, not on the srixon web site. Listed are:
UR-X
I've been using the Hi-Spin for +12months almost exclusively
an am happy with Sounds like I should have a try with the Precept U-Tri's though.

The new Cally ball is called the HX Tour. thought they came out a long time ago...the commentator said that it was a brand new ball the cally players were using... prob right tho...just wished they (commentators) are more forthcoming with their information, and not have to worry about "sounding" like they were promoting an OEM...

The Hi Brid Tour is a current ball and will only be replaced by
aanother wound ball,as there virtually no other wound balls on
the market now. Most shops still have it or can get it the Pro _ur
is the ball that has been replaced.

Have tried the Pro UR but found them quite harsh feeling compared to the Hi-Brid Tour. If I can't find any of the URXs I might give the U-Tris a go. Always liked the Maxfli A10 but they are hard to get as well these days. I hate the Stratas and Hogans because they scuff up so badly after a couple of hits.

as anyone used the U-Tri Distance? There the same price as the spin...And I'm told they are just as good as the spin, feel wise.
I would like to know if anyone has used both, I can't get
revo's anymore, so I need a new ball in the next few weeks?
The contest is between U-TRi spin/distance, Metal Mix, Strats Tour Ultimate...

Matt,The Pro-Ur is a solid ball so it should be harder than the
Hi-Brid Tour,House of Golf at Taren Point have the URX's they
said they are one of the first in Sydney to get them.Apparently
demand is quiet high before release.

Tried the Precept U-Tri Tour today... wasn't playing too well and had 32 stableford points. My favourite ball is the Pro V1... I think it does admirably well in all departments and seems to be the ball that makes the least compromises. After playing the U-Tri Tour I believe that it matches the Pro V1 in all departments... it's long, it spins on approach shots, it's fairly workable on short shots and it feels really good off the putter face... plus it's very durable. I'm impressed. So the verdict is that I still haven't found a ball that outperforms the Pro V1 but I have found something that is its EQUAL... and apparently the U-Tri Tours are a little less expensive. So looks like I'll be switching balls.

the UTRIED may be softer in feel...but absolutely no spin around the greens...at least the NXT Distance responded better...

Hey all, this is my first evening of posting (after reading at work for a while). Anyway, it seems to me that the advantage of 'premium' balls is overstated, I mean they're now making premium balls that spin less and go further, and distance balls that go as far and spin more. For the difference in price and durability give me a mid priced ball. Anyway, I haven't tried the U TRI but have used the Srixon Hi Spin plenty. Feels OK and spins enough. I found the NXT uninspiring, like the old Titleist HP Tour, but a bit better. I think the ProV1 is overrated, but that's my pschology, as I like to line up the writing on the ball when putting and on the ProV1 it feels firmer when I do that and I like a soft ball to putt with (btw can anyone tell me how a ball can have different properties in different directions and be legal?) My favourite top line ball is a Strata (of varying types), but then again I reckon they're the most durable ball I've used and everyone else seems to chop them up. Hmm, I'm perhaps a bit off topic now but there's so many ball topics around at the moment!!
One final thing...a ball feels so much better when hit out of the
centre of the club

just checked golfbox site...they're letting it go for 79
bucks... then again, I'm not much of a fan of srixon balls...
