I changed my 5 & 6 Iron for 2 Taylor made Hybrids and seem to be hitting the ball cleaner and hitting way more GIR, I just want to know if anyone has gone further down the bag and are using Hybrids to replace there 7 or 8 Iron?

That could be the way it goes. I’ve got a 2 hybrid though, and that will do me for the moment, but there was a time I said I would rather die than have a hybrid in my bag.. O how times change.

Personally I think they are like perimeter weighted irons, they just give you another option. I was playing with a 12 marker last year, good friend now, who had just swapped to a full set of iron hybrids. First game he had with them, we were playing together, he hated them, and I could see why. By the end of the 18 he was starting to get some decent golf going with them but they were way to much work for him. It was a complete mind set change. He was hooking everything and lost a lot of distance by the time he worked out how to hit them straight.

my slingshots are somewhat of a hybrid all the way through (similar to the cleveland high bores). I’ve had to change my play up a bit for them. they’re great through to the 6, but the scoring irons i’d say i’ve lost at least fifteen metres off “standard” cavity back type irons (like my old x14s), to the point that much as i love how easy they are to hit, I’m on the lookout for something else….

I think the hybrid style clubs are good to about a 4 iron, then a 5 iron (non hybrid) is much more suitable. I play a 4 hybrid instead of 3 iron and thats a good swap, but i woulnt replace my 4 iron. I can hit it fairly consistantly and i like the flight etc.

I have just sold a set of adams A2OS. My set was a senior set going from 4&5 hybrids. 6&7 transitional hybrids. Then 8 to sand normal irons. I liked the 4 and 5 but the 6 and 7 could not get used to. Replaced them with a set of senior cobra S9 5 to sand. I will get a 4 hybrid to go with them, but a hybrid higher than 4 or 5 not for me.
