Sending clubs interstate

Hey guys,
Anyone sent clubs interstate via courier?

I just purchased a burner on ebay but the owner is having trouble finding someone to ship the club for a reasonable price (they have been quoted $69 to QLD). Most shipping quotes on ebay seem to be around the $27 mark.

Any Ideas??

Busfreight.

Tell the seller to look for a smaller Licensed Post Office these are franchises and some will accept packages up to 120cm in length.

yep I do that go to one of thise service station post offices somewhere out of town…they are happy for the busness as they make a cut out of it…I do this all the time when i have sent clubs (Like I joked last week) I have bought a lot of gear and almost use ebay as rent service…buy something use it for 3 or 4 months just for the hell of it then sell it somone else…its fun and doesnt cost that much

so John (Daly) how did you make a 14?....well i missed the putt ior a 13 dickhead

yeh the small post offices take them. I have one nearby to me and they take things that are over 105cm. Its lucky, coz couriers cost heaps more.

Can you not just take the day off and use the police car or police jet to make the delivery?

But that would be a gross waste of tax payers money and would end up coming off your next dole cheque….

I have complained top Australia post a number of times…I said look even if you whack a 5 dollar surcharge on the ones over 105cm

the reason was the crate in the trucks can only take 105cm…so they tell me..so I did some homework and I met a driver for Autsralia post at our golf club of all places as I heard he played at our club…he said its easy to just chuck it on top so I went back to the manager and basically said youre lying that the public doesnt like being bull shitted too

I also promptly told him that I wanted to cancel my PO box…and that I would use smaller psot offices who would take it and they were losing money…..

I had to be slightly calmed down, one thing i dont like is being stuffed around and lied to by big busness

what i urge everyone is to do is when they tell you the crate is too small asky why it can be placed on top and ask if you can speak to the driver…...if we get enough people australia wide doing it they will change it the stupid policy

I have sent a message to ebay also asking if they can vouch in some ways the hardship its causing golfers also. NO luck but the more people you tell eventually somehwere high up listens….hopefully we have a golfer on Austrlias post’s board.

and yes I canceled my PO box..which they make money out of

Thanks Guys,
I will ask them to call around at the local post offices and see how we go (I really want this club but if not I suppose back to ebay looking for clubs where postage is already quoted).

Did I mention bus freight?

Bus freight would be a good option if you live somewhere near a bus depot. I do but they live too far away which brings the couriers back into the fold.
On the net it appeared that you could send a full set from Melbourne to Brizzy for $79 which isn’t too bad considering the weight.

“Isn’t too bad” ??

That’s incredibly cheap – even at twice that price.

When I sent clubs interstate I was only too happy to drive the 35 mins to the BusFreight depot in Melb’s northern suburbs …. you can do it too, if you live in a capital city.

The people on the counter are just doing as they are told, getting the shits with them only makes them upset. You achieve nothing except maybe putting stress on a marriage. They are basically public servants, no more, no less. What you are expecting is unreasonable and way out of line. If these people did accept your parcel it would only get them in trouble with the PO Manager, or their supervisor. So instead of possibly losing their job they put up with morons yelling at them over the counter… catch 22

The smaller Post Offices are franchises, they are owned by the people behind the counter. That is why they accept ILLEGAL parcels it is money to them, not “just” a job….

The driver is just doing his best with some shit he’s been stuck with. He can’t leave it behind because then he will be in trouble for not doing his job… catch 22

Oh and btw, if the parcel is stacked outside the cage it is a good chance of getting crushed…

And yes before you ask, I did work for the Post Office, I hated it, and part of the reason I hated it was because I had to put up with morons yelling at me for NO REASON except I was doing my job… bit like coppers I suppose…

Oh yeah, I’ve driven delivery vans too….

3 bad shots and 1 good shot is still a 4….
Golf is played in a very small area, the 6 inches between your ears…

One swing to hit the ball,
one swing to find a score,
One swing you bring to all,
And on the fairway find them.

If they had any idea they would have created one cage that it isnt standard to tale parces that dont confirm, that to me would seem a logical COMMON SENSE thing to do

never swore never yelled…in fact I often asked for the manager…look mate we oapy our taxes….we are entilted to ask hard question…I dont like being lied to…simple as that

Yes they are public servents..which means serving the public which means creating systme thats fair on the public…now you cant send a golf club or a fishing rod..two very lite items…sorry thats a joke!!

fence sitters never go anywhere in life BTW…because you dont have the guts to complain about people who dont think before they make stupid rules..and actually dont think about the people that it affects…..marriges…HUH!!

Im not screwing the lady behind the counter…..Im asking her or him (mostly)...questions that need to be asked!...

so John (Daly) how did you make a 14?....well i missed the putt ior a 13 dickhead

Bloody hell! Talk about the customer from hell. When you say that you have complained to Australia Post, you mean you have complained to the people who work at the post ffice. Not the same thing. The reason that they don’t have non-conforming crates is that they aren’t supposed to take parcels that don’t conform! Sometimes you manage to slip a driver through and sometimes you don’t. It’s their job on the line, not yours.
The 105cm limit is a pain for us golfers, but if it was 120, then you’d have fishermen upset when they couldn’t post rods that were 3 metres long.
For the record, I have had a hybrid in a box that was 106cm rejected by a franchised P.O.

I have sent ond recieved in post recently the dood at my local
P.O. said hes not mant to but stuff it when the powers to be
tell him not to he will have to knock it back until then he*ll
put em through. Sent 1 club to VIC from S.A bout a week ago
$12.40 in post, wanker couriers wanted $70.00 im in the
wrong game wouldnt take many parcels to make a quid at
those rates.

yes I did

guess what I work in the sports industry…as a coordinator..people compliain to me about lots of things, lots with what I have done some things that havent had anything to do with me….I take that info on board and try to improve things….thats the way the world works

I have always believed if enough people complain…eventually they sit there and go geez this might be costing us some profit….I dont swear and abuse people…and LOL dont cause satff to lose ,marriges…still laughing at that one!!...LOL

I ask why?...I ask…questions like…have you thought of…I often ask if I can speak to the manager…I have written to australia post also in Sydney….”have you thought about”??

there is nothing wrong with questioning things…..if we didnt question things the we’d still be riding around in fred flinstones cars

I have asked australia post to maybe thing about one crate having a section thats wider at the top…and thats its ok if anything over 105cm pay and excess of say 5 bucks or so…..Im not asking to send somone to Mars??

so John (Daly) how did you make a 14?....well i missed the putt ior a 13 dickhead
