Ok took it to the range today and then played 18 holes with it I think its great, is it better than my normal burner, maybe just a tad. Its much easier to draw the ball with, its only 10cc smaller than the 460CC burner but at address it feels a lot smaller. He ball flight was strong and boring…even the fades I hit didn’t slide way right. Its a 10.5 degree loft, the shaft weighs 60 grams which is 10 grams heavier than the 50 gram shaft. The burner tour shaft felt more stable, not sure if it has stiffer tip than the burner. Distance? Well I’m a 230 hitter..maybe 240 to 250 on harder fairways and today about half the Burner tours drives went about 5 meters further than my regular burner (I tested them side by side on the course) Ok the big difference was working the ball, I play in windy wa..and being able to work the ball is pretty important I couldn’t draw the ball much with my standard burner Also my horrible hook right wasn’t in evidence also…normal burner is 1.5d deg shut though compared to sitting square was it worth getting a new driver…hmmm who knows….it was random purchase when i saw a good deal on one and thought why not I do prefer the sound of the burner tour over the burner…its not as loud and deeper noise

Very popular club, in the TP as well. The new models seem to be lower spinning.

yes agree….my bad shots definitely didn’t tail away right or left..ball flight was a nice boring flight without ballooning I was using a 9.5 degree in normal burner and have gone to 10.5…which was always my preferred loft anyways and the 10.5 in tour model is staying slightly lower than my 9.5…why …the big difference is shut face…the tour model sits square and burner is 1.5 closed…. shut face usually adds loft in terms of ball flight

good on you
If Tiger plays Lefty will he be that good ? |

hell i’ve now got – driver envy! thanks for the info…i’m looking to upgrade to a less closed driver soon
nearly??!!! |

the burner tour is that club it comes in standard tour and TP version played today in Bunbury at Sanctuary (which was a dog track BTW) but very forgiving driver..nailed a couple that went 250 on wet fairways. ball flight is exactly what i was looking for

was looking at the burner again :) today, 9.5 stiff ( I thought it was 1 degree closed) the price has dropped to $280 and apparently they stop making them in about 2 months, close to buying one. Dave has me rethinking now. Interesting that the 10.5 Tour hits lower than the burner 9.5!
Political Correctness is doctrine fostered by a delusional
minority and by the media, which holds forth the proposition it
is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end. |

I found it odd too…the tour model sits square..has slightly heavier shaft ,even though both were reg shafts the tour models shaft feels a tad stiffer too try and find a demo somewhere….I took a punt on the burner tour because I had already played the standard burner, the price I got was too good to refuse

Heavier shaft is the culprit here.

If Tiger plays Lefty will he be that good ? |

No pressure here Dave. Picked up a Burner Tour 10.5 degree driver myself today. Flicked my FTi draw on the basis that I have cured my slice and don’t need the band aid. Also noticed a guy using one one the weekend and it sounded nicer than that Callaway, looked better than the the Callaway and I have way to much money!!! Felt great at the shop so just need to have a sudden illness to test it out on a course.

Culprit…man its a good thing..WA is windy

we must have walked by each other and caught the same illness…...”cant – refuse – a – good deal – itis” or as some cal it…club collection addiction That said very happy with my Burner tour

OK Dave you are right the Burner Tour is one mighty fine piece of equipment. Took it to the range yesterday for it’s first hit and am really impressed. Just the tiniest bit of fade, nothing wild and nothing that I can’t live with. Just got to get it out onto a first tee and launch it so see if it suffers from stage fright of people watching it and decides to turn into a snap hook club.
