Wanted: Blade 1 iron!

Hey all,

I am looking for a 1 iron in a blade (blade only) for range training.

None on ebay so thought I would put the call out. Someone might have one lying around in a garage?

Doesn’t have to be anything fancy (old second hand one would be preferred!). Doesn’t need to be pretty!

Any shaft, any grip, any brand! I will restore it.

Many thanks if someone could find me one!

If you can hit a 1iron blade you can hit anything. I believe Lee Trevino said “Not even god can hit a 1 iron”.

Good training tool though if you are prepared to listen to what it has to say! ;-)

I love 3 balls golf. The new Highbore XL is in transit!

that would be why they are the only club to use in a thunder storm

why would anyone want a club thats purely designed for killing snakes :-)

OK jokes aside …we are allowed to laugh arent we..?? probably best bet would be garage sales and hock shops

what about bending a 2 iron…??

this might do

I think AB needs something to spread his toast with…

Last sunday i took my 3 iron out for a hit…just to remember the good ol days….hmmm you can shove the good old days where the sun doesnt shine

if 70% of pros are carrying a hybrid then so am I…...training tool sounds interesting though

hahaha… all very funny boys! lol… No one of the “Gurus” has asked me to get one and start training with it.

Thanks Back markers will be in touch! ;-)

Sonab: Yeah that one looks good too, thanks mate

What loft does a 1 iron have?

AB, I have a Cobrra ‘driving iron’....it is slightly CB however (but only very slightly)..it was part of the Norman Grind series.

A bad day at golf is better than a good day at work.

Dags: Generally 16-18 degrees!

L4G: Thanks mate, I know the Norman Grind very well. Ah memories, I was 20 years old and thought I was god playing off single figures with my brand new set of Norman Grinds fitted with rifle shafts! lol I really appreciate your offer but the “Guru” is very old school and wants me to procure one of those thin ‘old school’ mouse earred, ouch hurts your hands when you miss types!

I have a set of these currently:

I think they are about 16*

You can have this one if you want it. Not a blade but a very slight cav back, very thin sole, no offset very much a players iron, i.e unforgiving as hell, never been hit.

Thanks heaps for the very kind offer but I have been instructed that it must be an old school blade for my training purposes, even the one I can get to match the set I have is considered too forgiving!! lol

Thanks again mate, very much appreciated.

I have a Macgregor Muirfield 20th 1-iron. Looks like this 6-iron photo I found on google, but a 1-iron. About as classic blade as you can get. It is the head only – you would need to reshaft it.

Yeah thanks spot on mate, just what I am looking for, no matter what I get I would probably be reshafting and regripping. Feel free to drop me a line at fit2firegolf@yahoo.com.au and I will organise the details with you.

Just got rid of my 695 mb 2 iron not a week ago but could chase it up aswell if you want
As far as long iron blades go this one is pretty forgiving but let me know

Hey all thanks for your assistance, I think I am sorted for the blade 1 iron – thanks to everyone for their generosity and fast assistance on this topic.

While on the topic of 1 irons, didn’t John Daly once carry a 0 iron! I think it was a Wilson with the old red and black firestick shafts.
