a friend gave me 2 older drivers,a callaway erc 11 and a srixon xx10 , i have found out that they are non confoming clubs, R&A. Being a couple years old, hasn’t technology caught up and passed these clubs, and they should be right to play? cheers,

Nah sorry, non-conforming is non-conforming. You can play them in social rounds but not in comp.

Noticed a bloke in a comp a few weeks ago with a non conforming driver don’t know whether he was aware of it or not and didn’t feel comfortable telling him the bad news

The BB ECR II is non conforming but it would be highly unlikely you would be approached about it. This has been a topic of conversation recently on here after I bought the club! I dont play comps at the moment but when I do I will probably use it….and if competitors saw the nice slice it provides they you would be pretty stupid to stop me using it! However…officially it is non-conforming and therefore not officially allowed….but I dont see anyone stopping you or me!

I would agree that in most cases nothing would be said if anybody even noticed that you were using a non conforming club ( I certainly do not keep a list in my head). Imagine going out , shooting the lights out & winning the club champs , only to be confronted by some clever twit who tells you he is going to report you for using a non-conforming club to the match committee. The match committee would have no choice but to disqualify you from the competition &any other where you used the club. Wouldn,t it be more sensible to use a legal driver?

A lot more sensible and required by the Rules. If you ignore this why bother with the rest.Cheat and cheats never prosper and word gets around a bad reputation wouldn’t be a good thing to have in a golf club.

I think cheat is a bit harsh…If you saw my game you would agree I am no threat to anyone. However, I agree that given a choice I would rather have a conforming club!

I do not think Muggins remark was meant to be personal, . The point to be made though is that if you breech the rules knowingly what else can you be labelled ,other than a cheat. Many breech rules due to ignorance of them & therefore need to educate themselves as to the rules of golf but anyone who knows the rules & decides to ignore them deserves whatever condemnation they recieve

Point taken Pom….so much so that I took my ECR II back and got a refund! Ignorance was bliss while it lasted but as I am fully aware I thought best to get rid! So now I’m on the look out for another driver! And certianly not offended by Muggins comments… The Snake Eyes in classifieds caught my eye (excuse the pun) and AB’s Bang for sale is interesting….but I am tempted by the Burner or even the Nickent at Rockbottom for $99….both forgiving and good distance apparently! So confusing….!

Sorry folks, new to golf and didn’t realise non-conforming clubs were manufactured! What makes the ECR II non-conforming?
