Best shot out of the bunker for a long while today, holed it for a 3 a 5 [Double bunger hole] in a stableford round.

Even though I am now a Long Driver and have hit some big tee shots, had 3 hole in ones and I few holed 2’s, my best ever shot was undoubtedly with a sand wedge playing pennant. Playing in the final pairing, the team was tied 2-2, I was 2 down with 3 to play. After chipping in for birdie on 16 and making another at 17, I had managed to get the match back to square coming down 18. Off the tee I hit my drive down the right half of the fairway and had 65 metres left into the wind. With both teams surrounding the green I hit the most pure sand wedge dead on it. It landed and stopped 6 inches from the hole. The green went bananas and I tapped in for birdie to win 1 up. Was the thing you always dream about and definitely a shot I will never forget.
Feel it, execute it, live with it. |

The Money shot is always good. Strongest Play- Got to be doggie style , trying to stay out of the rough but you have to go there to enjoy the short stuff.
Don't talk about it, do it , Life is to short. |

My driving is so inconsistent that my short game has become my strength. anywhere inside 120 i’m very confident, from the rough, trees etc. Best shot I have hit twice on the same hole within a few weeks. 9 iron from about 135 in the hole for an eagle. same course, same hole, same playing partner! But haven’t done it since :)

Best I’ve hit that I remember (so, recently) was when I hit the pin from 180 on a par 5 and the ball dropped six inches from the hole. Unfortunately I didn’t have a tap in eagle, ‘cause I had to extricate myself from the bushes on my second shot.

What’s perfection? I hit a drive the other day on a par 4, dogleg about 240m out, that went down the middle until it reached the dogleg and turned left, exactly what I wanted to do, then stopped 100m out from the green. The little sign was right there, next to my ball, and that was on a hole I had never even seen before! Is that perfect? Probably, but who knows, and is it my favourite shot? Yes and no, I did it all day, missed two fairways, could work my driver both ways at will, hit it high, hit it low. Left every approach except for three at 100m, now that is as close to hitting the ball perfectly as I have ever been, but my wedges were crap…Putting was average because I have never played on greens like that before, very hard and very grainy…did I have fun? yep you bet I did, would I go back there? Yep,and next time I would practice on the putting green for a half hour before hand…. Have I answered your question? dunno…..

130m out fairway bunker, eagle on a par 4. Never looked like missing. Best bit was, my mate was up by the green and watch the whole thing,I could see him just shaking his head. ( cause he knows I’ll be talking about that one for years)
Watch out typos + poor grammar. |

Par 3 128 metres, hit the ball cleanly of the tee had none of my trademark slice just a gentle fade towards the end and stopped next to the greenside bunker 5 meters from the hole…. stuffed the pitch though and bogey’d.

I slam dunked a Sand wedge from 80 out yesterday, man it looked cool. Although it didn’t actually stay in the cup which made me angrier than hell. Hit the back of the cup and the bottom of the pin and went shooting off the green, grrrr…... How come when the pro’s do it it either goes in or stays a foot from the hole, when I do it I have a difficult up and down for par 10ft off the green?

hit a 313 metre par 4 today in one, that was pretty good. hitting par 5s in 2 is always good, sinking 8 foot putts and getting up and down from anywhere over 50 metres feels good to.

Best part of my game is the drive, My best shot ever was a 9I from 150 on a par 4 at course I had never played before, never looked like missing. I went out with my brother in law and his mates, none of them have played with me before and started to doubt my no handicap hacker status.

Sorry thought of another one. Just joined my golf club and because I just joined I missed out on a Saturday start. I was advised that I should turn up and see if anyone is a no show. Feeling nervous and a bit flustered (first time as a member of a club) I rushed to the tee block grabbed my driver set up the ball. Everyone saw that I was flustered (and I mean everyone, there were about 20 people standing around) and I was told to relax and take my time. I just couldn’t so without a warm up or a practice swing smacked it 280m down the middle. Needless to say I copped a flogging on the 19th considering I didn’t have a handicap. Once again they saw reality after a couple of score cards.

holing a wedge from 60 out for an eagle 2 on anzac day.. it landed where i wanted and the green broke exactly as i imagined it would strength ?- my mate commented yesterday i hit fairway woods long and straight 90% of the time .. i had not really noticed until he said that.. ..

another one for me, about two weeks ago faded my drive into the tres (ok, sliced :)) and was about 4 inches from a tree. had only about a quarter of swing to work with and couldn’t follow through, as the tree was between me and the ball. about 125 out. we were playing a bb and my partner was on the green so i thought what the heck, i’ll give it ago. punched a seven and finished 2 feet from the hole, made bird and was wrapt

Have to be Sunday morning in our regular social smack. On the 13th – Par 3 about 160m, I took out my 7 iron and hit it a little fat. I caught the water trap just short and right of the green. Being a bit dry of late, I could easily get in and extract my ball from the mud! Now, remember this is a social smack! I did not clean the mud off but, simply threw the ball at the flag (probably 10m). Ball stopped within two feet of the hole. I looked at one of my playing partners and said “how is that for a shot!” He said “you threw it!” too which I replied “I did not!” I took the gimmie without taking the putter from my bag and said that was a great up and down for par! The come back was, “not bad seeing as you only hit it once!” Stephen…

Playing a visitors day on a tree lined course in Sydney (Killara). Pulled a drive into the trees on the left on about the13th. I had to hit the ball out of a fluffy lie with about a 6 iron and cut it about 20 or 30 metres high over trees to make the green. I’d been practising high cuts with my coach visualising different shots I might face, so when the opportunity came to hit it on the course I knew I had the shot. I had to wave at the guys waiting on the tee in case I didn’t pull it off because basically I was aiming straight at them hoping for the cut. If it didn’t cut it would have ploughed into them. Fortunately they were waiting on the tee for their fairway to clear. I took the backswing outside, weight left and chicken winged the finish. Bingo I pulled it off and hit the green – it just shaped beautifully to the green with perfect distance. The guys on the tee were amazed. I love shaping shots like that, what a buzz.

One of my varisty golf meets, we were playing a 380 yard dogleg left hole. The three before me played it as a dogleg. Being my home course, I played it as a straight hole, and rolled the ball up on the green – about a 330 yard drive. During the previous hole on said meet, I hit a 320 or so yard drive and rolled the ball up by the green. If you would have been golfing with me that day, you would have mistaken me for a good golfer. The best part of that day was I beat every single member of the “chosen” varsity golf team, on our home course. Good way of saying “up yours” to the jackass of a coach we had.
