Just received one of these from a certain retail place and had a look through it. I then compared it to one they sent me about 5 months ago and they have lifted the prices on their latest catalogue For the life of me, I cannot understand why more people don’t buy online with a trusted seller or even at their local pro-shop as one would think your local pro will deal with you in an honest way. Shit, my local pro and certain golf on-line companies i have used are great. So, what are all your thoughts on golfing catalogues, the lies in them, being rorted (I have never been rorted by the way)...Feel free to vent your anger and I am not angry boys, I just find it comical that places can rort people and get away with it. We need to help the boys new to this game for when they go and get the firsts set of bats or when upgrading.

4. To top it off, there is a section in the catalogue about club fitting using an indoor launch monitor and that their staff are all professionally trained in using it and are dynamic club fitters? To me, that is complete bullshit (can I say bullshit). Outdoors is the only way to be fitted for clubs. Agree with most of your points, most retail joints are a rip off. As for only fitting being outside, I would have to disagree to an extent. You can get 80% fit indoors using a launchy, lie board, etc, then get a demo club made to spec outside to confirm the results. Unfortunately most of the shops never do that, instead the go “try this, now try this, now this, ok, that is the best numbers, $500 please!”.
down and out…did ya get that? |

I think I can guess which certain retail place, but no names. I will certainly be keeping a closer eye on these catalogues in the future, I don’t think I’ve been rorted in the past, but then again I haven’t had the cash to go splashing around.

The use of the “was” price in sales and catalogues is the biggest deception in retailing. Chances are the price never “was” that high at all. Tags that say something like

I’m sorry but I can’t understand how a catalogue can rip anyone off, they may try but the time of the internet has changed the way I shop. It is a fairly basic exercise to do a search on a golf item and get a very good idea of how much it should retail for, this applies to Cars, Motorcycles, washers, dryers, cameras, anything really…. I suppose there is a small percentage that don’t or can’t do the research….

What about the stores that advertise the big brand gear but don’t put any price with it. WTF is the point of that.

“Due to contractual obligations…...” yeah what a load of crap. you cant get a price on anything and its bloody annoying.
Last round of Golf: April 6th 2008....I need golf. |

ian043 – it isn’t actually a load of crap, and very true….. account holders are not allowed to list any price expect RRP for the big name brands. all the prices you will see on big name brand gear will generally be superseeded equipment. ALL current line equipment from companies like Callaway and TaylorMade are not allowed to be price quoted in advertisements. most people quoting prices such as ebay and such are parallel imports and won’t be subject to normal australian warranty and other such things

my 2 bob’s worth. retail is a ripoff, go to demo days, know what you want, then buy it online. paid $930 for a major brand driver 12 months ago just sold it on ebay for $250. sb

Hey smooth for the most part I agree with you as I like to see the flight too but the best 45 mins I have ever spent was on a golf achiever launch monitor indoors! Have you been on one? Accuracy plus Virtual golf!

It didnt take 45 minutes to change your world, it was 10 tops!

AB, i have been on launch monitors indoor and outside. the one indoors was at a major golf retailer. my problem with that was they use reduced distance balls and you don’t see the ball flight.

Definitely the session I did on the golf achiever let me learn a lot about what equipment I needed for Long Drive and what I needed to improve on. Very valuable! I wasn’t on the launch monitor but I actually did use reduced flight balls the other day sb… At a local Long Drive event too. They were using Srixon Yellow Reduced Flight Balls for the actual Long Drive Competition. The end of the range was only 325 metres, atleast they were brand new and it was the same conditions for everyone! Just got to hit it harder! ;-) 316 won the event! It would’ve of been nice to have had that one get the extra 10-15%you probably get with a real golf ball???

Congratulations SB that is a fantastic result! Hard work is obviously paying off. Thanks for the compliment SB but I think I have a lot to learn with regards to TGM and technical swing information. I consider myself more of a student now in regards to this, as I definitely think I can improve my own performance by increasing my understanding of the golf swing from the true ISG brains trust. Am happy to keep providing advice where I can with regards training and strength/conditioning in the area of creating more power. As well as giving info on Long Drive, but I will be studying the technical advice of others for awhile until I have increased my base technical knowledge. Look forward to talking soon… AB

Not as yet Danz, sorry! As soon as I can get one done I will upload it and you guys can tell me how bad my swing looks! hahaha… It is probably not very technically correct as I pretty much learn by self experimentation – not many golf coaches understand training purely for “Long Drive”... except for guys like Bio.

AB, you see this?. Says he can out drive anyone with a 29 inch driver. Impressive hitting on those moving balls.

Yeah Mike Dobbyn has put up $1000 of his own cash to challenge anyone who can out drive him witha 29 inch driver! He is trying to prove that Long Drivers dont only hit the ball long because of their equipment. He certainly is a talented ball striker!
