Has anyone used the new TaylorMade Spider putter out there and if so what are your thoughts?

They are great – I rate them…

Probably comparable with the 2 ball putter, gives you an enormous amount of confidence over the short putts !!!

Anyone know where you can test/buy this putter in the Sydney/Wollongong area?

Im very interested in this new mallet!

I have one…. they are awesome

you can get them on the bay. I think there are a couple on there now.

Yeah seen a few on there, but I would like to try b4 I buy, I still use the monza corsa mallet at the moment and Im happy with that but I dunno, maybe the spider is better, just hard to know without trying first….

Sydney – Powergolf Alexandria has them in stock.

Wollongong – Port Kembla is the Taylor Made stockist in the gong

They seem to be an excellent putter for otherwise good players who are inherently poor putters.J.B. Holmes would be your prime example . Maybe wait until the novelty wears off and pick up one cheaply in a few months. In the meantime , why not check out the Nike IC 20-20 which seems to feature well in test results?

Simon, any iron/driver/putter that gets great results in a “test” is due to marketing/the wads that a company pays for it to be advertised and selling the damn thing. Do I dislike Nike, no way, I use their irons.

just had a put with the spider, what a beautifully balanced club. didn’t like the alignment lines but it gave the ball a great roll. tempting, no got too many now.

greg norman did not choke

Try the cleveland VP5, very good mallet for the money. I found the spider just a little too wierd.

I have played around a few times with a TaylorMade spider and every time I walk away quite impressed. Beautiful true roll off the insert and with such a big mass behind the face I found it very hard to not produce decent putts. (on practice greens at least)

At first glance I was skeptical at the alignment aid , but once I square it up it seemed to just make sense for me with the combination of straight and rounded lines.

I’m currently stuck atm between the Spider and oddly enough the Scotty Cameron Newport Detour both of which (for me) feel extremely good from top to bottom which you would expect from the associated price tags..

Definitely try one out and see how it fits with your own stroke , and like simonsez said they have a bit of a buzz atm and hopefully once that wears out the price might come down a tad..

I’ve just received my TM Spider – having come from the Monza Corza CS with AGSI+, this putter is such an improvement.

The amazing balance and control is second to none. I found perhaps, the head felt a bit light, but that is easy enough to fix. Great roll from the AGSI+, and with the balance of the putter, you find the center more often than not…..fantastic from long and short range

sigs are back – YAY

headcover is also quite terrible…..makes it look MASSIVE

but i spose it is massive
