I have some macgregor M685 mactec forged cavity backs with rifle flighted 5.5 shafts. They are in pretty good condition with only some minor marks on a few clubs and are about 12 months old. ANyone know what they would be worth?

Whatever someone is willing to pay.

Check out this link to see what these go for around 2.00 pm
Saturday.

Others listed for sale in Australia new at $325 plus $25 shipping.
Someone may be willing to pay you up to around $225 as a straight cash purchase if you shop them around . Anything that you can get over this will be a bonus . Around $175 -$195 would be more likely.
You need to remember that Macgregor isn’t all that well known to the casual golfer, that these irons are a little more demanding than some others and that better players are still likely to want something a little more mainstream.

I saw them ones on ebay but they have crappy graphite shafts. I think the rifle shafts would be worth alot more.

I don’t think you’d be able to get much more than that, Macgregor isn’t a brand that holds value at all.

It does surprise me why Macgregor clubs don’t hold there value. Most users speak highly of Mac equipment. When you think of the NVG2 drivers, especially the Tour model selling second hand in excellent condition on ebay at about 8% of it’s new price less than 2 years ago! That’s some depreciation…you’d have to be sure Macgregor suited you before paying retail or anywhere near retail price!

I’m actually very impressed with the Mac NVG2 driver, and if I’m honest with myself the Mac V foil 3 wood I have is the best I’ve hit too!

From what I’ve seen and heard of the M685 irons I’d be very interested if they were available in rile 5.0 flex. I’m already using rifle 5.5 and I feel that’s a tad too stiff for me.

The market for 2nd hand clubs is extremely poor . Probably the worst I’ve ever seen , in any case. Macgregor are perfectly ok as clubs but are relatively unknown in the mainstream market.
The good thing is that eBay has many cheap new clubs from reputable sellers.I recently purchased Cleveland TA6 irons for $262 Aud shipped whilst they are selling new in my local proshop for mid $700’s. Sell your clubs locally and buy again at the right price.

Around $200 would be the mark !!

Thanks guys. Yeah the macs are a great club. I have had my ones for about 8 months or so and they are great. I wont get rid of them for a while, but when i do il proly just give them to my brother or something as its not worth selling them for $200.

thanks for the help

Thats the go – keep your bro happy…

Just remember never to buy macs at retail price, just wait a month or two for them to depreciate under half retail and pick them up second hand.

yeah i didnt buy them for retail. I got them at a good price

Aspiring club ho!

Ditch these and get the Mizuno MP-57’s the difference between your MacGregor’s and the MP-57’s would be like comparing a Daewoo with a Ferrari.
