latest TM r7 irons?

Could someone tell me what the latest Taylor Made r7 irons are? ie are the 2007 models the latest? How long have the current model been around for and when (or is) a new model r7 coming? I have been trying out the new 2008 XD burners and was wondering how current the r7’s are?

TM irons are crap mate. They make some nice drivers and that is about it. Try something else.

angelboy, have a look here:

TaylorMade R7 irons

Despite the expert commentary from knob, many people believe TM to make a very good iron, myself included.

All the best

Thanks so much for the link brettmaverick – that site is a good one., especially the side by side comparison page fro all irons.

It still does not tell me about where the r7 is at in terms of age. is it a new model?, superseded model?, a new one is coming? etc.
I will just assume that the r7 iron featured on the TM is the latest.
again thanks for your input

despite the opinions of ‘imaknob’ i do believe many thousands of golfers worldwide are pleased with the TM equipment – irons included.
I even hear “professionals” use them :)

be interested to hear from anyone who uses or has used the new r7 irons. thanks

the trouble with taylormade is they bring out new equipment all the time so its hard to keep track if its current or not if you wait 3 months what is current now will be on sale at your local pro shop as the superseeded model thats the time to buy

harro is right, trying to keep up with TM will do your head in! 8)

Think the R7 irons came out late 2006 from what I have read but there is the normal and TP model so not sure which was released at that time.

Also all R7 woods have been superseded recently and stores are now clearing them out cheap. R460, R7 fairway and R7 Ti fairway.

R7 irons appear to be just about to go also. There is the Tour Burner irons coming that maybe their replacements.

I just ordered some R7’s and they rang the supplier to ensure they could still order custom configs. The floor stock was also on special for both versions of the R7 irons.

FWIW . . . the old Taylormade TP2 were sensational, as were the RAC combo irons. The new RAC MB TP are no where near as good.

The new one just don’t have any control. They hit the ball too high and spin way too much.

Look at the TV and see what the lads are playing… any decent ball striker is using the older clubs. Retief goes back and forward between the old RAC MB 2002 models and RAC MB TP 2007.

Lonard still plays with the old 2002 models…

Sergio keeps switching but then again he switches everything weekly

The R7’s are shovels. I hit them once on a demo day and I must say they have zero feel and were clunky. Cannot compare to a forged iron. They were crap.

Angelboy,

I have just found out there is an addition 2 to 3 week wait for these as they have run out of heads!!!!!!!

Depends of the time frames you are working towards but this could be an issue.

thanks race 105, yeah I will probably want heads on my irons! so it will be an issue :)
I might just hold off now and try a few different irons. Do you know what has replaced (or is replacing) the r7’s?

good luck with your order anyway. I hope it is not too late for you.

thanks for the heads up (pun intended)

yeah i agree..TM make great drivers and absolute junk irons..serioyusly wilson make better irons I kid you not…adams make better irons….

very overpriced rubbish…i tested a few models and they are junk…they feel bad…short in distance and they didnt spin in the 7 to 9 iron range

i have got a set of R7 TP irons. Good distance and workability

I have a set of RAC MB TP’s and they are awesome. Very workable, consistent distances, a breeze to hit hi and low and plenty of spin when it’s needed. Highly Recommend!

Not surprised the R7’s are going. Don’t know how TM thought they could sell a cast cavity back to pro’s and low markers, just by putting a TP stamp on it. These are not players irons, and not surprisingly the pros have’nt picked them up.

had a hit of the r7 tp irons today and have to agree with purist they were crap no comparison to my srixon irons or the mizuno’s i tried
