Is there anybody online that has gone from a normal two wheel buggy to a three wheeled suspension buggy? If so was it worth it does the suspension make any difference?and is it any easier to push/pull?

Hi Poider I went from a standard Pilgrim buggy (2 wheels and a seat) to a Smoothy ‘Lightning’ buggy. This is a 3 wheeler with suspension and a brake (mine doesn’t have a seat). The most noticeable difference is the way it glides over the turf and rough patches. The suspension takes all the vibration and I can mostly push it with one hand. There is no comparison with the older style pull buggy which is heavier and sort of rattles across the bumps instead of gliding through them. I was skeptical about the claims of being a third easier than a traditional buggy, but it’s true. The other members of my regular 4-some also have Smoothies (with seats) and we have all owned other buggies, but agree that the Smoothies are hard to beat. By the way, I am the youngest of the group at 56, and our course at Fairbairn here in Canberra is pretty rough in patches but the buggies take it in their stride. Haven’t looked back. All the best

Ok thank you pelvis, by the way love the picture but you need to comb your hair, my course here at thaxted park in south australia has some decent hills and seeing as i often looking for my ball in those ‘rough patches’ you have made my decision easier.

Hey Poider120, After 12 years of using a 2 wheel buggy (5 years for my most recent buggy) the metal brace that connects from the main stem to the wheel snap over the weekend.

This is unbelievable. Spend some cash fella’s and get a golf cart. A push buggy is just that? You push it. 2 wheels, 3 wheels, it does not matter but 4 wheels is much better. uraknob

I drive past Thaxted a couple of times a day and from what I can see you would be better off with something using ‘caterpilla tracks’ – looks a bit dry and dusty over there to say the least!

Not much point at the moment! In case you’d not noticed there’s a bit of a drought thing going on down here and quite a few of the courses have now banned golf carts.

Poider, the smoothy range is excellent but for ease of golf get a Parmaker scout electric buggy.you walk and swing,it does all the hard work.
You don't hit anything on your back swing so why rush
it!!!! |
|
Except paying for it. Try the Smoothy Poider. They make it so much easier & you are still getting the benefits of walking the course.
A bad day on the golf course is better than no golf at all.

Yeah Pom they are exxxy but its only money (inherited mine when my dad died)but the smoothy classic with coldy holster attached to the seat rod, an eagles and birdies bag that can hold a 6 pack in the inbuilt cooler and your beer doesn’t froth up at all in the worst rough.MAGIC
You don't hit anything on your back swing so why rush
it!!!! |

BTW can’t afford a new battery so am back to the smothy :))

Get a 10 inch staff bag (leather) and this will last longer than your “Eagles and Birdies” golf bag I shit you not.

Couple less 6 packs & you could probably afford that new battery. probably better for you too.

I have triled a few battery driven models and they are a waste of time and money…...get a smoothy you can push a smoooty with one finger…on a windy day downwind itt pushes itself…having to recharge batteries and then weight of battery driven buggies is a waste of time anyways thats my ten cents worth on them

You been talkin’ to my wife or partners ,Pom?? ;)

Hi Poider, Just got back and I have to say that the suspension does make a difference as it is so much smoother (no pun intended) when going over the hump and bumps on the course. It is so much easier to push the Smoothy than pull along a 2 wheel cart. I noticed that I wasn’t exerting much energy when pushing the Smoothy and as Dave_1 said, “you can push a smoooty with one finger…” (not sure what a smoooty is though). A few times today I let it roll down a hill by itself, just make sure a water hazzard is not the bottom of the hill.

Another advantage to the smoothy is that you can mark your score card between holes by letting the smoothy run along by itself, with a little push.leftypullright, just a wild guess . I know a “couple” of golfers that like a beer ot two out on the course. Not me of course.

Smoothy Great!!
|

The Smoothy is a great buggy i was looking for one on e-bay when I chanced across a T2T Australian made electric which i ended up getting for $135 complete with battery & charger you couldn’t get the wheels on a Smoothy for that. 18 months later I’m still happy.
I'm not drunk, I'm chemically unbalanced |

Done well hybrid, for that price it doesn’t owe you much even now and Pom I play a really flat track so don’t have to leftypullright it much. After your first round of tinkering with the front wheel the smoothy tracks great and when your on your tenth beer for twelve holes it doesn’t seem to go left or right that much anyway ,hic, haha

Thank you all for you thoughts and opinions, I will get my smoothy tomorrow.

Unless you love polishing chrome(I don’t) go the powder coated!!But I am probably in the minority on this rhetorical question ;)

I’m a Smoothy fan but yesty had an accident going front wheel first into a deep hole of a sprinkler head, result broke one side of the spring on the third wheel .Buggy is still useable and waiting on pro shop to see if can get a replacement spring or if that’s not available will have to buy the whole front wheel assembly Very good buggy IMO well worth the money just over $200 chrome and just under for black.Have had no dramas with my chrome.
No matter how bad your game it is always possible to get better or worse |

you can definately buy replacement springs

That’s good news ,I’m not made of money Cheers
