So not all of us can fork out the $80 or so for a dozen ProV’s. So what is the best cheaper version of the so called best ball? For those of us who don’t want to lose an $8 ball for an errant shot.

Just a thought the old Precept U Tri Tour was a good one. But of course they don’t make them anymore.

Your silly to pay $8 for a prov. Make ebay your friend. You will get quite decent provs for about $1.50 – $2 a ball.

Well thats true but i am talking about brand new balls here.

Try the Expert2, apparently not quite a ProV but pretty good.

Niceshot,

Sadly most balls that are comparable in playing characteristics and also comparable in price.

I have noticed Amart (in Qld) selling Srixon ZUR-S for $40 a box from time to time. A good 3 piece ball for that price.

I would have said U-Tri Tour, but maybe Bridgestone B330-S?

NXT Tour

'As in Life
So in Golf'

I second the NXT Tour. Good value especially if you buy from eBay.

I hear the AD-333 is also a great ball at a good price. Haven’t tried one myself but I used to use the Srixon hi-spin and really like it.

I stocked up big time on U-tri Tours recently for $30 dozen brand new so I am sweet for the time being.

wilson DX4 soft.
cheers peter

I find the Pinnacle Gold yellow balls great value Drummonds have them for $25 for a box of 15 and they’re harder to lose

If you think your arse looks big in that it probably does, next question

bridgestone b330 or callaway hx tour if they are good enough to copy they are good enough to use

Bridgestone make an e6 which is a pretty good value ball with a urethane cover (same as the 3 piece pro balls). I bought 330’s for $39 6 months ago …excellent value but they seem to have gone back up to around $65. Srixon Zurs at $39 are good value 3 piece ball

330s are great, but they are also expensive. I think the srixon ad333 are a great mid range ball. The hx tour are tops, but also expensive.

Hi,
I would definately go with the Vision Expert. It is as long as a PROV1 although it spins a little less around the green.

Get the mint pro V’s on eBay – set you back no more than $4 a ball… Don’t compromise on the ball !!!

yeah the provs are a great ball, no questioning that. Personally though, the HX tour 56 and B330s are equally as good. Like a few have said, the Xpert2 is a good ball. I got a few off Boz and was suprised. Nice ball and good feel.

Bridgestone E6 Or Srixon AD 333 are pretty good. not quite up to Pro v standerd but much easier on the wallet, especially if you tend to lose a few.

A bad day on the golf course is better than no golf at all. :(

No one who ever had a lesson would have a swing like mine

agree totally woth ad333 and E6

get some nice pro V’s fopr 2 bucks a ball on ebay…

I will say it again, play 5 or 6 holes with a pro V and it goes from being an 8 dollar ball to a 2.50 ball on ebay….the ball still peforms well after 7 holes…so why pay 8 bucks

unless your a scratch golfer or can afford 8 bucks then check out ebay

Vision X pert2. Close to a Pro V and at a decent price, it gets my vote!

who needs driver when a 3 wood will do???

This subject was bound to bring out the pro1v fan boys… with a second hand ball how do you know how long it has been sitting at the bottom of a lake, or in car boot? there are other threads pointing to fake pro1vs being sold at retailers, what is to stop them taking the balls out of the box and selling them as second hand – how do you know it is what is printed on the ball? how do you know it has not been damaged in some other way? how do you know they are not rejected by the factory for not conforming to performance tests?
To be able to determine this you would need to know the performance of a genuine pro1v well enough to tell if you had been ripped off, the best you could probably expect is a refund for the cost of the ball not postage.
I agree a pro1v is an excellent ball but I am not convinced that a second hand one is necessarily better than a different ball.
e6 and vision expert are both good,
the e6 is probably better for slow swing speeds than the pro1v in some cases

The other issue for some is the refinished balls that are now
available ,they are both heavier than the standard new ball and
perform at a lower level, read this as shorter.

The harder I practice the luckier I get. Gary Player.

Time to change!

I have been a social golfer and only just joined a club and therefore have never thought much about ball quality.
I currently use maxifli Noodle and Dunlop DDH. Are these crap balls? I am only asking as I have not seen 1 comment about them.

The Noodle isn’t bad, it’s a low compression ball so its going to feel soft. I don’t mind the Pinnacle Exception, although its name has been changed to the Pinnacle Platinum now and comes in a distance and a feel ball. The feel is pretty much the same as the old Exception. Not a bad ball.
