"Tour Van" clubs ???

Can anyone give me any information on tour van issue clubs. The reason I ask is that I questioned a ebay seller on why his Callaway driver did not have a serial number, and his answer was that it was a tour van club. Is there any reason why these clubs don’t have a serial number but clubs bought from a retailer do.

Some factory prototypes don’t have the serial numbers as they come direct from the R & D section. Do you have a link to the auction?

Some of the touring pros are given heads to try without shafts in them. We put all types of shafts in for them to try out. Some of these heads have serial numbers, some don’t.

I bought a tour van cleveland cg11 wedge from ebay…its legit

id be thinking its a fake. Lots of fake cally stuff about so iv heard.

I read somewhere they estimate that 3 times as much fake callaway golf gear will be made compared to authentic this calendar year…. then again occasionally there are tour van specials kicking around but often with X flex shafts….
who needs driver when a 3 wood will do??? |

Like the guys above me have said, I wouldn’t trust anything that claims to be a “tour van” club in the current climate.

I have had it under a microscope (serious) my mate works for dept of land managment and has a science degree and is a keen golfer and he buys from ebay also..we decided to look at under his microscope to check if the same metals and rubber was used for the club…it was exactly the same grains….the length and grips were the same and shafts exactly the same ITs odd I have seen ,more fake gear in golf shops that I have recived on ebay (my buying that is) I se fake clothing in golf shops…fake pro VI’s…fake mizunos in golf shops sold as new…

You also need to be aware that there’s often a difference between Tour Issue & Tour van clubs. I’ve seen some absolutely toilet rush jobs done by tour van staffers for pros in a hurry to replace a club.

you gotta ask yourself, do you want a tour van club thats a few years old? Can you get the same club at the same price with a serial number? I wouldnt buy it.

You should realise too, that many tour issue and tour van clubs are built specifically for one golfer, they are built for his or her specific needs, and almost likely won’t be that good a fit for you..

and hit 6,000,000 balls in thier life ???

I have actually found the tour Van club i have performs better than the standard wedges I have
|
|
How do you figure that ? Are the van built clubs heavier or bigger, flexed stronger/weaker, have more or less bounce, a bigger cavity, even a wider sole, overall length or how about the old swingweight debate, grip size, kick point, shaft weight or the material used, steel/graphite or maybe more COG or MOI than other clubs on the market atm ??? Any good club-builder can make you a custom fitted club or alter any existing club more to your specs. Jon…

C’mon Jon….give the guy a break. Unles you happen to swing it like the average PGA pro it’s not likely the stock tour issue gear will be a perfect fit for the average Joe. & you know quite well that yes, Tour Van clubs often come with heavier weighted heads (in drivers), firmer flexes & open face angles.

i once saw a callaway pros driver and it was meant to be a 460cc head but his was 400cc and face was 2 degrees open and had a x stiff tour aldila shaft not many people would be able to hit that one if you saw him on tv using his driver it looked no different to the driver you buy off rack but they are worlds apart
