Theres huge buzz on US forums about this driver, most think its the bees knees. Particularly the L4VX Could someone go and try this thing let me know how it goes. Or has anyone already tried it?
no, but im sure people from the US have. Why ask for opinions from an aus website when you can look up bsg or wrx where the population is 10 fold. IMHO NO driver is worth spending the $$$ brand new.
the driver is very good however, like all clubs it needs to be fitted correctly if you want it to work at its optimal. www.cobragolf.com.au has a list of demo days where you can try this club

Im currently testing the X head with a Ozik F7M2, So far it is quite long! But it does however have the distinct Cobra sound! Im going to test a couple of shafts, in it, but it is not as consistant as my TOUR Burner V1. And with only 9deg loft in the X it is restrictive!

It’s here at my local golf course. Hit it on the course yesty. 9* F with stiff made for Cobra Redboard. They say the stock shaft is shit and it needs reshafting and then goes into a world of it’s own. Length wise it was good but not great, but accuracy and ease of hitting was utterly ridiculous. High launch but gets thru the breeze even with the weak stock shaft. The F is easy to draw but never gets out of control and is a leakage right players dream. It really is just so accurate. I would guess that with the much talked about good matching shafts, the Whiteboards, ProtoPYPES and PM702, this driver would be a weapon of much success.

Retail i saw at the local was $599.99.
Aud$599.99 is what I saw Golfsmith list as US $ 399.99 on today’s rate that’s around $456AUD add freight probably all up around $500 AUD Too much mark up .What ever happened to the OEM price equity where prices were to be the same throughout the world?
No matter how bad your game it is always possible to get better or worse |
i ask because those US forumites easily jump on to things so easily probably because its cheaper this forum is abit more down to earth and we dont change our equipment as often as underwear. Also theres only one demo day in Vic which is ages away

Hi Fellas, Has any one tried the Adams Golf Insight BUL 5000 (MOI 4900+ to 5000) Driver or the Wilson Staff Spine Driver ? Hows this compared with the L4Vs or the other ‘newer’ drivers out there? Much Appreciate

I’ve got one of these one the way – L4V X with X flex stock Redboard. After researching the stock shaft I bit the bullet and ordered an Aldila 60X Protopype. There’s the chance the stock shaft will work for me, but if it doesn’t… it’s Protopype time. The L4V is “slightly used” but looks brand new and the Protopype is new from Golfworks. I play a Titleist 905T with stock stiff flex Fujikura Speeder shaft at the moment and while I’m long enough with that, I’d like to be more consistently straight. A slightly dodgy swing is usually punished pretty severely. I went for a bump in stiffness due to the head design (it’s not bore through) and weight making the shaft play slightly more flexible. We’ll see how it goes… the shaft arrived today but UPS, in their wisdom, have decided that being in the suburbs ten minutes from the centre of Adelaide is a remote area and they’re delaying delivery!

I have never warmed to cobra drivers before, they look nice they feel great just distance wise I wasnt happy….but get right shaft and you can make most of the modern heads go ok

Hi Guys, me again.
I hit the LD F-Speed last year, twas THE shit.

I shafted a L4V F 9 deg the other day with an Accuflex Icon V2 shaft (S) @ 45” long. Also added 12 grams weight to bring it upto my preffered head weight. The F head I have is almost dead square but I believe they are suppose to be closed? Firstly the Cobra head has that crappy sound but you could get used to it I suppose. Secondly I am not used to hitting such a shallow head but I am warming to it. Thirdly it is as long as anything I have used. Fourth, very easy to hit this straight. A not so perfect swing or off centre strike still flies quite straight and nearly as long as good strikes. Anyway my impressions are: Is it worth $600 AUD with the stock shaft? I doubt it. That is why I was lucky enough just to get a head with my specs.

$AU600 for the L4V with the stock shaft? Ouch. Mine was $AU450 with the Aldila Protopype! It arrives today but I’m getting my wisdom teeth out later… won’t be able to use it for a while :(

Ok, the L4v goes for $320 new and i would assume you nabbed one for about $280 second hand. The Pype is $126 from GW and i’d assume at least $30 shipping on each item. $466USD. I’ve never seen even a stock second hand L4V go for less than at least $255. Obviously i am missing something and am keen to see what as a mate is going to get one of these very soon, possibly with the same Pype as you. $450AU with a Pype is an awesome deal, and one i think the mate would pull the trigger on.

personally i wont pay more than $350 for ANY driver Cost price of ALL NEW drivers is less than US $ 30 mayb even less 99% of the time i reckon
If Tiger plays Lefty will he be that good ? |

Yeah my sums were out… I forgot to calculate shipping! I snaffled an L4V just after it had been listed with a buy it now price of $US280, slightly used. If it had been re-wrapped and sold as new I’d never have known… it’s pristine. The Protopype was from Golfworks, so the total was $US405 ($AU$440) but with shipping and fitting of the Protopype (I don’t do my own work) it’ll be around $AU520 or so. We’ll see how I feel tomorrow… it might not get a work out until Monday :(

I play the Adams Insight BUL 5000. I love it. I can’t compare it to the L4V though. I have hit most of the recent drivers and for me it is the best. Nice traditional shape, excellent sound and feel, very forgiving, great launch and ridiculously cheap from the US. Sets up very square. I find too many drivers are closed faced.

the BUL 5000 adlo, what loft and flex u play with btw ?
If Tiger plays Lefty will he be that good ? |

Believe it or not, it is a really nice looking club at address. Sure the club head is big, but that’s no different to any 460cc driver head. Some 460cc heads look big and bulky, this one doesn’t. I play a 10.5 Regular. I played 10.5 Stiff in the Hibore. I have gone to the regular shaft as it is helping with increased launch angle. Drive distance with this club (which I find doesn’t vary much from club to club- only launch conditions vary) would be about 200-210 carry, and depending on the course total drive distance with roll 215-235m. FYI Driver SS is low 90’s and 7 iron carry approx 135-140m.
adlo my distances and ss is very similar to yours too !! wondering whether a 9.5 w regular is = a 10.5 with Stiff for the same make ??
If Tiger plays Lefty will he be that good ? |

Kyc… yeah it can vary from club to club and manufacturer to manufacturer. Apparently the stock offering in the BUL can vary in flex though. My brother who is a faster swing speed and probably 10-15m longer than me has swung my BUL and got amazing results. Makes me think the regular stock shaft I have is certainly not soft to flex. It is a higher spin club head than the Hibore so if you were a high spin player then the 10.5 may balloon. However, if you have similar swing speed to me you probably aren’t too high spin.
