what is your exact handicap after the last Saturday of 2007, I know there is a comp round left tomorrow but what will you finish 2007 on and what do you hope to finish 2008 on?
|
|
15.8 for 2007. 2008 A whole lot lower I hope.

4.9 for ‘07, and I guess we’ll see for 2008
|
|
do you play once a week? if so in 2008 get out in the backyard for half an hour one day during the week and have some practice swings or do some chipping just to get bat on ball and I’ll bet you handicap moves at least 2 shots south in 08

|
hcp 18.3 :( goal was 18.. got there, then crept up a lil.. anyways, tommorow is still 07 so will be looking to drop. For 08 I’d like to think 10 or 11 isn’t too far beyond me with the time I am putting in.

Had a couple of lessons early in the year & got down from 19 to 13.5 but then got a bit lazy & started to drift back out . Seem to have lost my swing in the last few weeks. Got the s@@@s after 13 points on the front nine today so booked myself in for another lesson. After getting down to 14 , 17 is no longer acceptable. 12 by the end of 08 or bust.

Well I think that you have done quite well. Keep up the effort and hard work.
|
|
good for you it is that type of game you have to keep working at it or the game goes pear shaped, the best in the world practice everyday to keep improving so the average player needs to keep playing/practicing to keep improving as well

Hi POM, My 2 cents worth, I’ve found that the best time to have lessons is when I am playing well, not sure if anyone else thinks so. It’s easier to make changes for the better when things are going well. Cheers

dwayne, think this is in the wrong section. Golf Talk rather than Equipment I would have thought. MrC, you might be onto something and I don’t want to discourage you but… while dropping from 27 to 18 is a top achievement for a newbie golfer, it starts getting harder and harder to get significantly below that. For starters, the handicapping system shaves off 0.4 for every stroke under CCR when you are on big numbers, but as your handicap drops the shaving gets finer, 0.3 then 0.2 etc. I went from 23 to 15 in around the same period after I got my first handicap, but I’ve found the dang thing harder to nudge now. CCR at my course is usually 3 under, so I’ve got to shoot an 84 to break even. If I shoot an 80, I’m only going to come down about a stroke. There’s no way around it, I’ve got to learn how to play G.O.L.F. proper like – in the mean time I’m shooting 85+ and the handicap is going the wrong way. For the record, I’m on 17.1 and hoping to get to 12 now that I am (i) getting the gospel from the guru (ii) playing more often at a decent course and (iii) have somewhere decent to practice. PS: Is anyone game enough to post their GolfLink IDs?

If it wasn’t for a low course rating today I would have finished on 6, but only lost .4 to remain on 6.5. Bugger, oh well I have a month off to play a heap of golf & see what I can do.

Well, IMO lessons while playing poorly are for diagnosis purposes, find the problem, then attempt to fix it. Lessons while playing well are for taking your game to the next level. Both are important because you won’t get any better if you are playing poorly, and you won’t get any better if you don’t push yourself while playing your best.

Good job the short game is working or I,d be in deep !!!. Best club in the bag at the moment is (dare I say It ) The 60deg wedge with the putter a close second. I only dream of a single figure handicap.

2.7 – In the UK my handicap has been frozen since the end of September, will not get to shave it till April ‘08 at the earliest. As for what it will be in September ‘08 when it gets frozen – who knows? I’m not going to become a member of the ‘forecast club’, instead I’m going to say what I think is possible. What is possible for me with my game is scratch. Bottom line is that I really shouldn’t be shooting worse than 3 or 4 over when I play and I know its possible for me to go low. If I go sub par on 5 occasions next year, I’m pretty sure I’ll get to scratch. If I go very low, it might only take 3.

Hey Guys,

Im at 12.6…..Started playing at start of year and dropped from 21 in April to 12.6 now. STarting to hit the right track. A bad game is now about 86 and a good game is high 70’s. hopefully 2008 will bring single figures….

My exact h’cap is +1 fellas. Had -5 on Saturday in comp but then had +4 today in comp today. I actually do not care if my handicap goes out or down for 2008 as that is golf. How can one have a differrence of 9 shots in a round of golf you may be all thinking. One misses 3 or 4 easy putts for birdie, throw in some 3 putts, a few beers and there is the answer. My putter is either a devil or a saint.
