Seems odd to me, given most of the clubfitters I know are low markers.

Do you believe it’s a trade that can be plied competantly on a ‘do as I say, not as I do’ basis? I can’t see it.

Handycap has jack too do with it, as far as I can tell, Its the the old story those who can do. Those who cann’t teach. My handycap is 18, my goal is to be single fig in two years, I cann’t see how playing of 4 is going to help me build a better club.My goal in clubfitting is to be the very best, And i’m working bloody hard at it, study, exams, working for free,I love club fitting and working with the golfer to get the very best for there game. So feel free to get fit by someone whos a sratch player, but trust me I would run rings a round 99% of them. Cheers Nigel ( A true student of clubfitting)

I see Nigel copping a bit on this front. David Leadbetter was the hottest coach in the world for years. Ever seen him hit? One would wonder what right he had coaching such people. Kevin Rooney never amounted to bugger all in the pro’s, yet he trained Mike Tyson from the time D’Amato passed away all thru his record first title and plenty of defenses. Tyson’s demise wasn’t far of co-insiding with his sacking actually. Renee Richard’s and then Mike Estep coached Martina Navratilova thru her ascent to total tennis dominance. Who? Witness the geeks of sports science and training breaking thru new barriers almost daily. How about Homer’s bible of golf? Dyno, an American enthusiast with about a 10 handicap has helped countless people in the U.S. with his fantastic insight and willingness to help. Angelo Dundee, almost mythical trainer of Muhammad Ali and Sugar Ray Leonard. He wasn’t a boxers jockstrap yet look at what an unbelievable record he had with Ray and Ali.

Bottom line – Nigel can fit and build ace clubs or he can’t. Obviously he can and people that know what they are looking at would see that from his posts.

yeah scott that is clearly a tosser comment. Nigel is a great guy. He has helped me out to no end with getting a driver and other clubs. He answers any questions i have and is VERY knowledgeable in the area of clubfitting. He is a top bloke to boot. As the other guys said, clubfitting and playing the game is a totally different ballpark. Nigel is always one of the first to answer any questions posted on the forum and he helps alot of people out. just my 2c…..

Most F1 designers and mechanics cannot drive the cars. Most drivers cannot design. Skill sets are totally different. That goes for fitting, making and coaching. Those who can do it all are true superstars. To my knowledge only one Major winner has ever coached another to a win.

Have a look as Katsuhiro Miura in Japan, he makes clubs for TW and other top players, he can’t hit a ball to save himself… Case in point…

Many golf pro’s who tour or teach have no idea about clubfitting/specs..etc. If it feels good, lets go with it and most of the time it works as they have the ability to make it happen. Hey Nigel, I shot 69 at Cable Beach (Bahamas) the other day and stuck a Proforce V2 shaft tipped 3 inches into my driver and hit it 10 yards further on average for the next round with a high fade. I came 7th (2 day event) and won a huge amount of $800 USA.. not much but it is heaps of fun mate. cheers mate

What the loft and face angle on your driver head, Swingweight, lenght, etc, Whats with the 3” of trim, trying lower ball flight or just feel, do you sst/flow your shafts. I tried the V2 standard 65 44” shaft in my test driver the other day, felt o.k. I could feel the stiffness in the butt. and the toque, but didn’t like the tip section, I’m going to stick with the fuji E360 reg. I’ve been working hard on the high fade at the range with the help of my coach (i’m trying to keep the ball in play)Trying hard to get rid off the snap hook. I’m playing Galies on sat, first time i’m playing comp in about 8 months. I wouldn’t mind hitting 69,.I’ld be happy with under 90.Great news on the 7th, Let me know if you need a caddie.Good luck for the next round.

It’s easy to act hard, behind a computer, you are more than weclome to pop over and have a cup of coffee, and have a look at my shop, kick back hit a few golf ball in the net, check out some new clubs, talk about clubfitting. Take it easy golf slut I ownly have to build them I don’t have to hit them. To me the biggest respect I get is when a golfer trust me to build his clubs, I take great pride in that, that the trust me to do so, I’ve never had a unhappy golfer, because i’m not happy until there happy, Some times it takes months to build there clubs, to get the set up right. You don’t have to respect me, but I would put up for free that I could build you the best clubs you have ever hit, for free, You can pop over and I will set you up. But the up shot is you will have to go on line and tell ever one that you where wrong. And nigel is not a retard, and i’m his bitch so feel free to put your money where mouth is, or put up or shut up. He is under contract for another company, but he has played over seas, but no longer. Hell of a nice guy i’m sure he would love to have a round of golf, All three of us could go, I could bring my coach as well, I could look at your clubs and he could have a look at your swing. Sounds like fun don’t you think? i’m looking forward to it, you could even stay at my house, It’s nice and big 10ft walls so you can bring the net in side if its raining, I could set up the l/mointor, sink a few coldies and have a lond drive comp.

Where are you any way. I get to move around sometimes with my work, NSW, VIC etc, I always seem to get time for a round of golf. Would like to do for a round some time?If you could put up with me looking for my ball.
