Are Mizuno irons worth it?

Do you think they are worth the price? I got a price on some MX25’s today (3-PW), it was $1250 and $1300 for MX60s. I know they are nice clubs but do you think they are that good? How do they compare to the likes of Ben hogan Apex and Nike forged combo’s. Any thoughts would be appreciated….

Mizuno make nice clubs, no doubt about it and trying to compare them to other clubs can be …well…difficult. I have a set of Nike forged and they are great as they are free to me. I also use Slingshot Tour irons at times? (Thanks Nike) Forged clubs can be a bit of a gimic as the difference between forged and cast irons using similiar steel in terms of feel off the clubface is minimal. It is all about having a nice looking club that appeals to certain players. It is not for me to say use them or not, just giving my opinion ok. If you like them and they go good for you, what the heck mate. I hope you are getting fitted for them if you decide to part with your cash. Take it easy mate…cheers….

You are kidding yourself if you think you can make it without hard-work.

I have used Mizuno MP30’s for a little while now and I swear by them. Great feel and control. Haven’t tried the Hogan’s but definately better than forged combos. Only downside is the softness. They seem to pick up marks and scratches from any surface even remotely hard. Hope thats a start. Good luck

For that price I would be going Miura forged or Endo or the like. It wasn’t long ago that these were out of reach for this price but not any more. Mizuno make some good forged irons but the others mentioned are a step above. Alot of the Mizzy Japan (JDM) forged irons are not their super duper grain flow forged gimmick, but actually done by Endo. They even get them done by another company and Endo are one of the finest in the business. But for an ‘Aussie bought’ forging they are amongst the best if that makes sense. Cheers

The thing about Japans forged irons, they look the part and are magic to look at, But they are not going to make you play your irons any better. I own some (honma). They are the rolex of golf clubs. Do they play any better than my made in china forged iron, Short answer no.I also own a miura putter looks the business do I putt any better with it no. If you like the finer things in life go for it, but remmber any good cast or forged head, with a good design will play just as well.Weather it’s made in Japan or not.

He asked whether the Mizzy’s were worth it not if he would play better. Saying that though, there is nothing better than hitting a quality forged iron and not actually feeling it leave the clubface. This is something that cannot be measured by any machine or explained away in any book. Maybe this is what Wishon is on about – hte search for the perfect iron? Sorry but some of the Japs have this clubmaking forging down pat. cheers

You cannot possibly compare Mizunos to china rubbish. Maybe a retarded one armed monkey couldn’t tell the difference, but any golfer worth their weight could tell just by hitting them (without checking the stamps).

In Nigels defence, he wasn’t saying that the Mizzy’s were not good, he was saying that they would not make anyone play better which I agree with. Where we differ is I would still like to play bad with a good set of Jap forged clubs!

1020 carbon steel is 1020 carbon steel, I like japan forged irons, as I stated above, But as long as the iron are forged to a high standard they will play and feel the same. As in feel my playing irons are wishon 560mc irons which are forged cnc milled iron, they are of very high standard, but made in china, they do and will stand up next to any forged irons. I’m a clubfitter and can chose to play any iron I like, money is no problem, these are just the ones I play with. By the way I know for a fact that the some one high up in the iseek golf camp plays these irons and loves them, and given them a big wrap. I sell japan forged irons as well made in the same place as muria, they are out standing in look and feel, its personal choice. But they will not play any better, thats all I was trying to say. Cheers Nigel
