seems to be alot of three wedge sets 52,56,60 degrees on ebay . seem to be averaging around $240 for the set.

fake or real? seem awfully cheap.

I bought a set about 6 months ago for 230, and they arent fakes, but yes beware cleveland fakes are out there. mine were the CG11’s. Good wedges.

I always ask if that I can prove they are fake will they refund my money?

so John (Daly) how did you make a 14?....well i missed the putt ior a 13 dickhead

I got these wedges a couple of months ago as a set ($172.50) – not fake. Very happy with them.

they have dropped in price with the newer models coming out.. that sounds about right.. i recall buying them from rockbottom for $90 US each new quite a while ago and they are legit

I just read in the Australian Golf Digest that Cleveland CG 12 wedges are out now/soonish. The key technology is its latest ZIP grooves that create a larger groove colume conurtesty of the consistent millin of each groove to maximum conforming dimension. This thus generates more spin. Haven’t seen it in the stores yet though. Anyone know when they’re coming to Australian stores?

That’s probably why the prices of CG10 are dropping like flies. Good wedges nevertheless.

I just got a new 54* & 58* 588 DSG Chrome for $129 on ebay, it was a quiet Monday and I was the only bidder, usually they go for $190 plus for these so I couldn’t resist (been watching for a couple of months now).

The guy that sells them (prisc.bazaar from Adelaide) has been selling 3-4 wedge sets per day of all Cleveland & some Titliest stuff for ages. All reviews have been glowing and no one has mentioned that these might be fake. He also states on the adds that “The club is still in original factory plastics and guaranteed originals”.

I should be receiving them soon and I’ll let you know what I think when they are in my hand.

I bought a 3 wedge cleveland set late may. while i was waiting for them to arrive I noticed a posting on ISG on June 3rd”are these fake” This post re affirmed my intention to check them out for authenticity. Took one to drummonds, to cut a long story short, these were the best fakes they had ever seen. Writing, different size, offset slightly different, impact area different finish. Could have kept them and no one would have known they weren’t genuine. Only by comparing side by side can you tell. As someone said in the posting, why would there be so many cheap clevo wedges around. got my money back. i wanted to believe this was a deal! if this 3 wedge set was selling for say $60 a club(US dollar) in the US,how do these people get supply like this in australia and sell for $180 a set here. i havent seen any US sellers doing the the same- any answers?

There is a heap of fake Cleveland gear going around. I bought a set of CG2 irons late last year and they were an immaculate forgery. Having owned Cleveland gear before, something just didn’t look right when I recieved them. So I took them into a store and did a comparison and was amazed. The Cleveland writing on the sole was larger in the fakes, there was no white line on bottom groove of face, and the iron head was larger. Grips and shaft stickers were ok. Subtle differences that a normal person wouldn’t notice. After countless emails I finally got my money back and that user has probably re-registered a new user name on ebay.. Buyer beware.. If the price looks too good, it usually is. 3 premium brand wedges for $180, you have to be asking the question…. Hope this helps

cant get the excel file to upload what and how i do that.

has to be seen to be believed

i cant see how the prics bazaar guy still has a 100% feedback if his gear is fake .hes been trading for a while now

If they are fake I will cry!!!!!!!!!!!! :(

brett, please take one to a store and compare side by side. be very scrupulous. come back with you verdict

i just remembered seeing a golf show discussing fakes. they tested 2 callaway drivers, one fake ,one geniune.using a hitting machine, there wasnt five yards in distance between the two.straight also. then an old yank pro hits them both and claims the fake is r/s.i know for a fact that callaway driver heads were made in thomastown – vic up until a couple of years ago, so whats the diff between thomastown and thomasnang

would be interested champ to see if there real, coz ill get meself some, but at the moment im to cautious of the fake factor.

the egogolf guy has now dropped the price from $95 to $69 for a cg11, cg10, 588 new ,(aussie seller). how are we to know how low cost price is, which would then give us an idea whether something is real or not. $69 for a clevo is a joke compared to $150 at drummonds

If they do turn out to be fakes I would hate to be one that paid $300, some of the CG11 black perls sold for almost $300, the 588s for over $300 and the Titleist Vokeys for over $350 for the 3 club sets.

as a matter of interest brett, after i returned the fakes i bought a 588 from the US. ive had a hit of the driving range pros mizuno mp-t 51 deg 6 bounce.softer than my 588, very nice!-shane

why dont drummonds or any aussie retailers sell a three wedge set for the $250 mark. a question unknown to many but sureley it has somthing to do with the mark ups. i clevo wedge 588 retails for 170-180 maybe pick up a cg10 or 11 for 140-150. it just sounds to good to be true. better off buying the classic 10 wedges some dude has on ebay 3 wedges clevo copys to a tee except name for $60. if there shit chuck em, cant really lose though.

just a thought

I actually was seriously thinking of geting the classic 10s but the shaft on the 588s are ment to be dynamic gold. I guess if I lose on the head at least the shafts are ok (unless they turn out to be fake as well).

But I will go to the local Drummond store on the weekend and get their opinion on the clubs.

Out of intrest is there a website with good quality pics of the legit clubs? The Cleveland site has shite photos.

I have seen these wedges on ebay aswell its hard to say weather they are fakes becuase alot of the time you see a driver in a pro shop priced at $600 once the new model comes out they are down to $200 so thats got to be saying somthign about the mark up on clubs so you never know these wedges could be legit and you are picking up a bargain.

Man up and go for it

It’s a pity that ebay is full of pirated golf clubs, it takes the joy out of buying cheap over ebay for genuine goods. Unfortunately I dont think there’s any way of preventing this from happening… if the fake goods are made to look so real.

Would it be fair to say the big US Ebay sellers with ratings > 10000 are 100% safe in terms of genuine goods??

golfer-com has clevo sets ,exactly the same layout ad as my seller, aus despatch ,sends to aus and nz. probably same guy ,diff name.the differences in the fakes are not noticeable unless you compare side by side.the offset and the diff finish on the hitting surface is what made up my mind to return them.but in saying that even though the wedges have all the right stickers etc are the shafts genuine, why would they be

Anyone with that kind of feedback is a very safe bet. I always look at people having multiple feedback when buying golf equipment…

some other ebay tips

get then to ring you, leave your phone number if they call they are ussually genuine, also explain your concerns, also most brand websites will tell if serila number is legit one. Callaway do.

feeback is important.

If its too cheap to be true..or too good to be true it might be a fake also. I have been lucky I suppose and never recieved a fake. Also ask them that if you can prove its fake will they provide a refund?

One last thing, theres been heaps of gear sold in legit golf shops all around the world that has proven to be fake, just because its sold in golf shop doesn’t mean its legit gear. food for thought.

so John (Daly) how did you make a 14?....well i missed the putt ior a 13 dickhead
