I’m looking for a new driver and I’m leaning towards the new Callaway FT-i Driver, I’ve had a try of it at the local golf shop where it is $799. and I liked the feel of it.

Does anyone use one and can you give me some feed back on it or on what might be another driver I should try.

I think they are crap. Get a Titleist instead for half the price.

Ok Charchi, be a little more specific, why are they crap and which Titleist. And lolol on the Tassie post.

$799 is outrageous for a driver that will be worth under $300 in 12 months time. JMHO YMMV.

I hit the FTi and i found it pretty good to hit. Wasnt too fussed on the sound or look of the club though. It seems to be very straight to hit (as they say it does). You could check out the cleveland hibore or TM burner/Superquad/R7 460 etc…..just some ideas to confuse you with i guess…too many options when it comes to drivers!

You can pickup a 905R for less than $350 these days. Twice the driver at half the price. Callaway drivers are shit – juts ask Phil.

Hi guys, a newbie here. If you don’t mind parting with your cash for a FT-i, go for it. I personally think they look crap though but we are all different. Perhaps try the new Ping Rapture, TM Superquad as they look and feel good off the face.

Ok I’ll try one out on weekend Charchi.

I have the callawy big bertha 460 and these are getting cheaper I hit all most drivers and found this suited me best and I compared it to the :

Callaway FTI Titelist Ping G5 and Rapture

It is a personal thing but give it a go and you may save a few bucks.

Well I’ll disagree on the look thing because I reckon they look cool, but I’ll take your advice and have a look and swing both the Rapture and the Superquad when I can, and well if I can get away with spending less I will do so, I haven’t found the money tree yet.

Yep I’m gonna do that Crog cheers.

Hi Che, I’m new here too. What everybody says about trying anything before you buy it, and trying out lots of drivers, is obviously true. Also getting fitted when you do decide (which can just mean making sure you get the right ‘off the shelf’ version of the club you like). As for the fti, I have a confession – I own one! If you’re a lower handicapper and a consistent ball-striker just looking for more distance, it’s not for you (although distance is fine). But if you’re like me and can be inconsistent with your current driver, it will probably help. I have straightened out considerably through a combination of lessons (good driver setup is easy to get right and makes all the difference) and changing driver. I went from a TM R300 so all of the 460cc drivers looked big and inspired confidence, but I couldn’t argue with the results I got with the fti at a demo day at the range. Like you, I like the look (and the headcover’s cool too!). The sound of the fti is in my experience better than other square designs, I’m sure guys were whingeing about metal drivers when they first arrived too! You will probably get some looks and ‘tsk tsk tsks’ occasionally at the course but who cares if you’re hitting straighter and feeling better.

I’m not saying buy it, just don’t be put off. Do shop around and do try heaps of sticks, and go with what you like!

DarthWack,

Not sure where you are located but they can be had for under $700 in Sydney.

Only a retard would pay that sort of money for Callaway shite when better stuff can be had for less than half the price.

I had an FT-i but I like my Big Bertha 460 better. May be FT-i is more expensive so I expect more from it. Big Bertha 460 is great price and very easy to hit.

Your full of complements and positivity, aren’t you Charchi. So look if I can get better for less I will. I’ll have a look around today while I’m still on holidays andthen I’ll get back to you.

Great advice Catwaezle cheers, I’ll deffinately go with what’s good for me. And I will take the time needed to sort through all the choices out there, and the great variation in prices from shop to shop.

Haven’t seen a good Callaway Driver since the Great Big Bertha. They haven’t produced anything better since then.

Mate you guys have GolfMart down there? Haggle them for the best deal. Two mates got it for $650 here.
