Cleveland Voluntary Conformance Program

Hey guys,

Having recently bought a HiBore XL (which I absolutely love!), I noticed that it may not meet USGA requirements. I had a read, but didn’t quite understand why some of them need to be replaced.

Anyone know, ad would care to share?

Cheers.

Some of the lofts did not come up to spec COR wise. ie the balls came off the face a tad too hot.

“Chalk up another one to the growing list of products that have been sabotaged during the manufacturing process. Anyone in possession of a Cleveland Golf HiBore XL, specifically a 10.5-degree right-handed model is now potentially in violation of the equipment rules for Characteristic Time. The club was recently added to the nonconforming list of drivers by the United States Golf Association. It completes a foursome of products (Nike Sumo2, Callaway Big Bertha 460 13-HT and Cobra HS9 F, 9 degree) that have been discovered to comply beyond the rule limitations for CT. The Company stated that all other right handed lofts (7.5, 8.5, 9.5, 11.5, 16) and all left-handed HiBore XL drivers, as well as all other models, including the HiBore, HiBore XL Tour and W-Series HiBore XL (For women), have been tested and are determined to conform to USGA standards.”

Thanks guys. Why is it a problem? Seems to me like it is outlawing something considered too good…

As opposed to all of the other innovations players have these days.
