Stand Bags on Pull Buggies

Looking at grabbing a stand bag for the quick few holes after work, and wanting to know are their any issues with then throwing them on the pull buggy when playing in the comps. Do not whether to get a cheap one just for the few holes and keep swapping over on comp days or pay the dollars and have this bag as my one and only bag. Deciding between a cheap Wilson Pro Staff or the Titleist. Any advice would be great.

I have a stand bag, but through the summer had it on a trolley…. downsides were that the stand bag does not have pockets down 1 side, so is heavier on the other. Meant it kept rotating on the trolley. also, the stand itself wore into the soft foam stuff around the part of the trolley the bag sat on.

I wouldn’t get a ‘cheap’ carry bag…. they tend to be heavier than a good one.

As above, cheap carries are heavier. I used to use a Wilson which was useful, not too heavy, but the lack of a pocket to put a drink in was a set-back, especially when I tried to use a buggy. I managed to use the outside pocket, but I could only ever carry 1 drink. If I put the bag on a buggy, the drink would eject at least twice per hole, making it useless. The one time I did it I was drinkless by the 4th.

A good carry bag will have multiple pockets for drinks, and/or an insulated one to keep your drink cool (which may or may not work). My Titleist bag also has a felt-lined pocket for valueables.

How does your Titleist go on a pull buggy?

It’s only a recent purchase and haven’t chucked it on yet. If i do it, I’ll use my wife’s buggy which is a cheaper one that has a clip/fastener on the bottom to hopefully prevent it from sliding it around.

I play at a hilly course and find it much easier to carry than to use a buggy.

Get an Ogio ‘Grom’. Stand bag with plenty of room and carry straps, but also has a cool rubber thingy on the underside that secures it onto a buggy when you use one (and it works).

I have one and it is sensational.

Yep,

Ogio Grom is the best carry bag by a mile, and the rubber strap is a godsend.

just dont get a pram like all these losers are doing nowadays, do they realise they look like old women taking the kids for a walk or doing the shopping, they just look stupid. i have had a pencil bag for the last 10 months but sick & tired of picking it up so got a pull buggy(not a pram) & a new stand bag but with no legs, just watch out for your legs of your bag and watch the material so i does not get punctured by the buggy. who else thinks grown men look stupid pushing their bags around like a 90yr old lady with a 45 hcap.

My spine is pretty OK with my buggy. Not a pram, just a collapsible two wheeler.

Not me. Can’t say I have a problem with it. But then again, I don’t mind engaging in polite conversation with my playing partners either, no matter what the topic. ;-)

Have a callaway stand bag and had no real issues loading it onto a buggy for comp. Just have to seat it right, plus I use some foam rubber (plumbing insulation) between the bag and the buggy for stability.

Cheers.

Dunno ‘bout that Ballboy – I think you are a little confused about what’s important. Looking good – playing good. I’ve a mate who uses one of your so called ‘prams’ and he reckons it’s helped him get around his fairly hilly home course. He’s no slouch (plays off 5) and I reckon he’d flatten you if you inferred he was a blouse! The game’s about less strokes on the card not so much about strokes of your aesthetic ego.

I just strap my stand bag onto my buggy with the felexible roof-rack straps (?) – if that’s what you call them. Works OK for me.

Agree with Boonie and the new and improved Moe, get a grom if you want a stand bag that also works on a pull buggy

are you inciting violence, this isnt tennis, this is all about voicing your opinion and if you have a problem with that then you have the problem, maybe you need to stop pulling all together.

F^%$ off ball boy

Watch the language!

This is a family site.

you have been told now go back to hole you crawled out of you dirty grub!

Hey boys could this be the new Sven undercover as an antagonist??? If not, he could take the cake as the most stupid to appear on this site to date. In case you can not understand BallBoy this thread is about stand bags on pull buggies so take your drivel elsewhere.

Not sure about that. I think he raised a valid point – fit blokes with 3 wheelers out there should be ashamed of themselves. We’ve got young blokes at my course who have battery operated carts, just like people twice his age. Disgraceful.

FWIW – I’ve been playing better golf since I started carrying. Go figure?!

I have a Titlesit stand bag, I’ve never carried it once though.

just chuck it on the buggies out the front of the pro shop and continue on my way.

All the sandbelt clubs provide them free, but I played in Brisbane a few months ago and got stiffed $4.50 to use one!

While I think the use of motorised carts by young fit people is quite ordinary, I do not make a distinction between 2 aand 3 wheeled buggies.

I bought a 3 wheeled buggy about 2 years ago so my three year old son could ride on it (that was the only way I could get out to play for a while). I no longer need it for this purpose but I fail to see how using it is any more discaceful than a 2 wheeled buggy.

BTW, I used to carry my clubs but now that I am 40+ with a crook back, it has become too difficult.

I’ve got a Ogio Grom Stang bag which I use on my newish Brosnon X type buggy & she sit sweet on it, no tossing or turning…

Thumbs up for Ogio Stand bags…..

Also that Ogio rubber strap @ the back, works a treat when its on a cart, she dont move or get tossed around….

Go the stand bag for sure…I had the same dilemma last week….I was tossing up btw a stang bag and cart bag…the good thing about a stand bag is u can use the buggy if u couldnt b bothered to carry it….whereas a cart bag u cant carry it unless u are a unit!

I have a Mizuno twister bag RRP is $325….i believe.

cheers

I’ve checked a few places and can’t find anyone in the ACT who stocks Ogio – any ideas who the major resellers are? A guy I used to play with had an Ogio cart bag and raved about it…
