Yet Another Non Conforming Driver

Straight from Cleveland website! Question remains how many more are yet to come….

“Cleveland Golf has determined that, due to a variance in our manufacturing process, a limited number of HiBORE XL 10.5 degree drivers may not conform to the Characteristic Time test standard established by the USGA. It is only the right-handed HiBORE XL 10.5 degree model that is in question. All other right handed lofts (7.5, 8.5, 9.5, 11.5, 16) and all left-handed HiBORE XL drivers, as well as all other models, including the HiBORE, HiBORE XL Tour and W-Series HiBORE XL (For women), have been tested and are determined to conform to USGA standards.

Therefore, effective May 28, 2007, Cleveland Golf is implementing a voluntary product conformance test for the right handed Cleveland HiBORE XL 10.5 degree driver.”

Nike leads the way to disaster ??? :)

How weird that it’s only 10.5°, wonder why ?

Wasn’t there a school of thought that with current equipment 10.5 is actually a more optimal launch loft now? Perhaps that’s related.

Then again, I may have read that in Golf Digest, which the last time I was looking was suggesting a weird reverse pivot might be the key to swing nirvana…

Anything from 12* upwards doesn’t have to comply, in any brand. COR rating only applies to lofts under 12*. Jon…

Actually Callaway’s Big Bertha 460 13HT (13 degree driver) has been deemed non conforming also.

Try 15 degs lads

Watch out typos + poor grammar.

Sorry mate that 10.5 launch angle is OEM marketing people blowing hot air out of there ass. Optimal launch angle depends on swing speed.
