905s v 905t

Apart from the slightly lower launch of the 905s, of those who have tried both the t and s noticed any other major differences or are they pretty much of a muchness?

In my experience:

The S looks a bit better at address, and is deeper in the face. I find the S launches slightly lower and a bit flatter than the T. Both are fine clubs and I much prefer the look of either to the R which I despise.

Supposedly S launches lower and spins less...Have never hit em back to back with same shaft to make a comparison though.

I have got an S and agree with Jack, it sits nice at address.

down and out…did ya get that?

How could you possibly like the S and T and despise the R? You must have had a dud shaft in it. Best of both worlds IMO. I have one and love it, and it makes me wonder why I ever went away from Titleist drivers.

At about $340 retail new, and better on the bay, now that the new line has come out, you can't go wrong with the R IMO.

S launches lower and is a lower spin rate driver than the T. The 905 range is fantastic.
If the 907 line is a genune improvement I'll be darn impressed. The 905S with Speeder shaft and a switch to the ProV1X has lowered my driver flight more than I'd ever expected it could.

Boonie,

I just dont like the look of the R - it is too big and looks too shallow (and a touch closed to my eye). Im a 400cc players - any more just doesnt do it for me. Mind you I played with a 975D for about 3 years in 8.5 loft, back in the dying days of the wound ball. everythign they made between the D and the S and T was crap in my opinion.

Matty - I had a look at the new 907's and I wasnt impressed. The triangle one looks shithouse.

The T and the S are the go for me

I use the S and love it. I don't find the launch that much lower, its more to do with the shaft imo, its the low spin that I like. I'm a bit of a short knocker and the reduced spin of the S gets it out there just a bit more for me.

I tried the R, much like Jack ntohing above 400CC looks any good to me and I find that it balloons big time, even with the exact same shaft as my S.

Boonie, as a scratch or better golfer compared to my 0-2 mark and Jack being off 5 - perhaps you just hit everything well wink.gif

I liked the S too, great driver and used one for quite a while. Preferred it to the T.

Obviously size is the issue for you two boys, both living in the past wink.gif Big is beautiful. You get used to the look of huge heads pretty quickly when the results are there.

As with any driver though, the shaft is the key as you said.

sounds like you're talking about a porno.

Yes, I am very much stuck in the past - and playing more than 50% of my golf at RM means I don't need to hit it very far.

I'll progress to cavity back irons before trying a 460CC driver again, the old long irons are becoming harder to hit with every birthday.

You carry Pings? Last I saw of you I think you had shiny Mizuno blades in the bag ohmy.gif

Reality set in tongue.gif Age and lack of practice necessitated it - no use being stubborn!

Mizuno to Ping is a big change, but couldn't be happier. I demo'd a lot of irons before choosing the Pings and they quite clearly stood out to me. I've had them 6 months now and love them more than ever - do yourself a favour!

My ball striking has never been better. I just need to figure out how to rediscover my short game without practicing now unsure.gif

Boonie,
Sorry to get off topic, and don,t want to start a discussion, but do you mind me asking which Pings? I had a hit with the rapture irons a few weeks ago and mmm, real nice and easy to hit.
cheers.

i5's with ZZ65 stiff shafts. I only did a Ping fitting to try out the S59's actually, but in the process of trying out different lie angles and shafts hit the i5's a bit, and just loved the way they played. I have a friend who has a Ping account, so was able to get a demo set so I could try them on course which was a bonus - and I was sold.

Make sure you get the shaft right. I hated the CS lite shaft, but was keen to getting something a bit lighter than S300's. The ZZ65's were perfect - lighter, but still at least as stiff as S3's. Some people love the CS lite shaft, others prefer to put DG's or Rifles in their Pings.

Thanks for the info Boonie.

I play S400 in my 681 Blades, the 2 iron is already under serious threat from a hybrid of some description, or considering replacing 2-5 with latest Titleist cavity backs.

I've been such a Titleist Ho for such a long time it will take me a while to convert. My short game is solid as a rock without practice, its my iron play that lets me down so perhaps there is some merit to getting myself a set of Pings or equivalent sad.gif

Been playing off between scratch and 2 for 10 years now and don't reckon I've hit more than 10 greens in a round for at least 5, so my short game is my saviour!
