Now im sure this topic has been mentioned before, my apology. But what are some of the better golf balls on the market regardless of $$$ price?, distance, spin, etc.
Im thinking of buying a pack of three, if they come in packs of
three, the Titleist Pro V1. Just curious how a dozen golf balls
at over $70 play! Anyways Cheers!

Hey whats the longest golf ball out there? Distance wise, cause im thinking, the next time i play for my club, and im playing the long drive hole, i whip out my Taylor Made R300 series driver, and the longest golf ball!

|
from all accounts the Maxfli A10 ball is the longest on your ...
but in my opinion, the Titleist NXT Tour is a great ball.
Durable, long and great feel around the greens! Heaps cheaper
than the V-1's and hex reds..try 'em, you'll like
'em

The Maxfli A10's are said to be the longest ball on tour and my favourite at the moment. Followed closely behind by the Callaway HX Red (2 piece) and the Nike Tour Accuracy TW.

Distance:
NXT Distance, Maxfli Noodle, Precept Laddie, SuperFeel. AllRounder: Maxfli A10 I trialled a Top Flite XL3000 SuperFeel this afternoon (9holer), and I had a 'hit-off' btw the NXT Dist and the SuperFeel, and the SuperFeel was about 7 yards longer, and this was with a fade as opposed to the straight of the NXT Dist. The SuperFeel is a much much better ball than the crappy SuperSpin...never been so happy to lose a sleeve of balls b4...
Found a newish TATW this arvo, so will have a hit with it
tomorrow. Let's hope it's not as short as the original
TA. GO THE NOODLE...

What about the Srixon Hi brid Tour - I don't see anyone mentioning this ball. This is a superb ball - good distance and really soft around the greens. Jimmy :?:
|
|
jimmy...
tried very hard to like the srixon balls, but I just can't.
:? Kinda the same thing I have going with the ProV...I've used it a couple of times, but always felt that there wasn't anything that really stands out...and given that it's shorter than then A10... but hey...if it works...it works...

Im using the HX Red at the moment, and Im not changing... Very good ball, it goes further then the Blue, but still spins heaps... Give it a go...
|
|
Played 18 holes this morning with the TATW ball, and I went round
in 73 (lowest yet)...so I'm happy with the ball... Fairly long, stopped well on full approach shots and 'square-pinch' shots...putted nicely as well!!! Its not as soft as the original TA, and it's a real 'click' off the putter face... Only bad thing...the ball look like it's been thru a blender after the round... All in all, IMO the A10 would still be the better ball to get/use...
should expect to see the price for the A10 to drop pretty soon as
the M3 range of balls gets more and more publicity... Mw...

Mau Just had a try of the Srixon Pro UR - I must say I like it but not enough to change from the Srixon Hi Brid Tour. Mate - give it a go - it is a good ball. I want to hear your feed back. Jimmy

No worries...will do so...as soon as I find out who stocks it here...

I'm quite liking the Pro V1° right now, but also think the Maxfli Revolution is still an excellent ball. Sharkboy swears by the Precept Laddie though I've yet to try it out.
|
|
yeah...the original revo is a great ball...I'm always surprised with how much distance I can get out of it...for such a 'soft-feeling' ball...it really gets out there...too bad it goes all yellowy after a round... quite cheap at the moment too... I had a hit not too long ago with the Revo Solid, and I thought it wasn't as good a ball as the original revos...felt too hard...and couldn't get enuff spin from in on the harder greens in Perth...might be different here tho... funnily enough, I have a dozen of each here, so I'll try and get thru the solids first...should do well here...I think...

i'm lost now in the sea of balls and haven't settled on one i love. i was with srixon hispins for ages but started using the hx reds/ctu 30 lately.
i agree about the hybrid tours though, lovely feeling ball but i
only have one it has has miraculously survived for 4 months since
i found it
i used the prov1° in my end of year comp on sunday and
finally figured out i'm too dumb to even tell if it was a
premium ball i'm going to use up all my hispins, callies, strata TU's and just stick with the type of ball my handicap and pride should. topflite rock ball something forever... it's been costing too much and i'm not good enough to profit from using better balls so i give up!

mac...
at least you know it...there are ppl out there who has all the
best gear and uses the best ball, but struggle to break
100...whateva rocks their boat I guess...
anywayz, if u're considering using a top flite ball...see if
u can get hold of some top flite tours...they're all the
craze in the states...and ppl are saying it's just as good as
a ProV...ableit a little cheaper...
I've yet to come across one yet tho... Mw...

yup, i heard heaps about them. sound good, 3 piece and US price would theoretically put them about the $55/60 mark here (lousy markup golf stores grrrr) I was just about to buy some SuperFeel's as a lot of reviews coming back about the xl3000 Superspins weren't that encouraging. second hand from justgolfballs.com.au is only $24.95 for the xl3000's. I looked for the tours on the weekend, but only found the Pro UR's at a pretty good price of $68 new. I haven't bought new balls since i started playing 2 years ago though so...
I only took up golf since i used to do promo gear and had 10
boxes of Optima TS balls left over. I figured i already had a
head start with good balls so went out and bought clubs with the
money i'd "saved"
that and my partner's gym attendence had made me a Sunday
morning bachelor...
|
|
yeah...take it from me... STAY AWAY FROM SUPERSPIN ... the SF is much better...not saying it's a good ball...just that its better than the SS... btw...the Tour is going for 19.99 USD...so doubt very much it's gonna cost more than 50 AUD...it'll prob come in under to try and compete with the Noodle, Laddie, Lady etc etc...but being a top flite, it'll prob come in even cheaper than these balls...

played nine last nite, but didnt have any goodballs, so had to (no choice) get a sleeve of the new pinnacle power core soft feel... first drive was encouraging...as long as the Strata TU and TATW, but off the irons, the ball is easily half a club longer.
what did catch me out last night was how quickly the ball checks
up (for a 'rock')...I had 4 chips that wasnt even close
to being considered 2putt gimme range...
not too sure about putting tho...I had 17 putts last nite (for a
39)...so I wasnt sure whether to blame the ball or not...I'll
give it another go tonite to see whether it's the ball or
me...I can't putt for SH*T now.. Mw... :x

i remember the good reviews for the pinnacle titanium precision spin last year and Golf Review rated it pretty high amongst a plethora of distance/spin balls. http://www.golfclubreview.c... it was ahwile ago now but the review was interesting nonetheless. I tried them and found them pretty good allround but again what would i really know ;P
considering it's a titleist really maybe the new line is onto
something

I've been selling a lot of the new Strata TU 2's lately
(for $60/doz just quietly), and gave them a bit of a workout
myself this week

I am ashamed to say that today I shot 21 stableford points having 2 pts. on the front nine and 19 on the back. The thing that amazes me is that on the front nine i used Precept laddie balls and lost about 4 in the bad conditions (3 on 1 hole). Then i went out the back of the pro shop and the pro gave me 3 rocks i could use. I used a B51 Extreme and i shot 19 points. what happened? Evan

I can't justify spending $80+ per dozen balls. A good balance between performance and price (in my opinion) is the Maxfli Noodle or Precept Laddie. Not much difference between the two. Good distance and spin, although not as much as an A10 or ProV1, but not far behind. (Mind you, the cousre is so dry after months of no rain and water restrictions, that any ball will go 300 metres off the tee). I think it comes down to personal preference, you have to be prepared to experiment with different types until you find the one that is right for you.
|
|
i used Precept laddie balls and lost about 4 in the bad conditions (3 on 1 hole). How can you lose 3 balls on 1 hole and still have any shots left, you are either playing off 200 or you are not picking up when you should! I like the Srixon balls, mainly the Soft Feel and the XL3000 but no that Hindo gave me the Starta Tour Performance, I know what I like! The only problem is they are expensive but that might force me to hit them straight.
I used to like the Maxfli Patriot but apparantely I'm the
only one!

js, the strata tour ultimate are only $59/dozen at professional edge golf shops during december. maybe there's a christmas gift idea for your family in there somewhere?
|
|
i've used the pro v1 for a while, the A10,precept lady, optima tour blend, wilson true distance, wilson true tour and the new tit less NXT,the NXT feels super soft and is quiet long, since i have only played couple rounds with it i'll reserve my judgement on it.At this stage the wilson true tour seems to suit my swing and i'm very happy with it's all round performance.
