Hybrid clubs

I always said I would not have a hybrid in my bag... play the traditional way, irons & woods etc... but, having hit a hybrid over the weekend I was surprised as to just how easy it was to hit, and the distance I got from it. I had been thinking of a 3-wood, but now I am thinking of a 14-19 or so degree hybrid.

Curious to see roughly how many people actually use hybrids nowadays

Cheers

Did a deal to last and got a TM Rescue Mid 16° with my Sasquatch. Lent it to a friendtotry - he had it for 8 months. Got it back last week and used it on three rounds. I've replaced my three wood with it. Seem to have reasonable success of the tee. Don't use it off the fairway as I still like my 3 and 4 irons.

My Nak NX-1 replaces my 4 iron. Use it heaps.

I use one. I dont find it any easier to hit than any other club. That said, I find all clubs bloody hard to hit.

I carry any where from 1 to 4 hybrids. Wishon 321 3i 21deg,4i 24deg,5i 28deg, 6i 33deg they all have a bore dia .335 ie they are all fitted with RP wood shafts. I have a low ball flight and depending on what the course and wind is like is to how many I carry.
Cheers.

i have 3 of them, which replaced effectively 3wood, 4 wood, 2iron and 3 iron.

For further information, send me a PM?

I carry a 19° it replaces my 2-iron. I don't hit it that much better, but its far more versatile. could really only hit stingers from the fairway with my 2 iron, with the hybrid I can hit anything from low draws to high fades.

Do clones of the high launch Ping G2 irons count as hybrids? If yes, then yes; if no then no.

Like Moe, I carry a 19 deg and it replaces both a 5 wood and 2/3 iron for me. I can get useful height with it and carry somewhere between 4 iron and 3 wood.

24° Wishon 321Li for me. I use it in place of my 3 iron & 4 iron. It fills the gap between my 5 wood and 5 iron pretty well.

My first was a SnakeEyes 3i/7w, a permanent loan from a mate as my set didn't have a 3-iron.

I've added a 19° Rescue and it's my most consistent club in my bag at the moment. Considering a 14-16° to replace the 3-wood.

Same, 19° replacing my 2 -3 iron...fantastic versatile club with the True Temper Crossfire Stiff shaft in it...can hit it with my eyes closed...awesome clubs...
most of the time the only thing ppl have against them is that they cant get over how it looks...but u gotta admit that the hybrids nowadays are looking hell sexy.

I'm using a 17° hybrid which replaces my 5w and 2/3 Ir's.

Bloody great club, thinking of getting my hands on a 14° to replace the 3wd and 21 or 23° to give me some variety in shots.
Currently using length of backswing to control distance for shots 150m -200m (anything beyond my 4 ir)

I've never used hybrids, I've stuck with conventional woods because they've served me well. However, if and when I buy new irons, I'd probably order hybrids to replace the 2 and 3 irons and maybe even the 4 iron depending on lofts.

Come to think of it, I did use Taylor Made "Raylors" in 16° and 19° lofts to replace my I and 2 irons some years ago. When I compare the TM Raylor's to the TM Mid rescue, they're about the same head size and the shafts are only a 1/2" difference in length. So maybe I have used hybrids before, just a rose by a different name unsure.gif

I own four hybrids, all Snake Eyes Quickstrike 2's, 15°, 19°, 23°, 27°. Usually only carry the 19 and 23 but when the mood takes me swap the 15° for the 3 wood. I really like hitting my 5 iron otherwise I'd probably carry the 27° as well. Really easy clubs to use, love 'em tongue.gif

I have two (Srixon AD), which replace my 5-wood or 3-iron and my 4-iron. Would like to get another to replace my 5-iron.

Don't like the look of them personally. Too chunky.

I have Callaway X Hybrids to replace my 2 and 3 irons... much more consistent ball striking for me... step up and let it rip.

I've got a couple of Srixon Tour Specials in my bag, 22 and 18 deg. I find they're the only clubs I can hit apart from the wedges. I used to love my old 2 iron, but I wouldn't trade the 18 degree hybrid for it!

Srixon AD2 Hybrid 19°. Have been struggling with my ball striking lately. but this is so forgiving it doesn't matter. Off the tee, off the fairway, always good. straight bombs for me. always finding the fairway with this thing.

also have a Bridgestone AirMuscle. 21° and the 3 irons replacement. not as easy as a wood like hybrid and thinking of different one

sigs are back – YAY

Don't mind them, and they're definetly a good out of the rough and for distance, but i am personally not a fan, don't find them all together a neccesity and dont carry them myself for higher handicappers of players that struggle with irons and the like out of the rough they are however a good addition to the set

I just bought a 20 deg Mizuno CLK Hi Fli for less than $100.

Man can this thing go!

great off the tee & fairway

love it

Just got myself a Bridgestone J33 Hybrid 18 deg for 50 smackers

Im a complete noob at golf and everything i learn is of youtube. but when i discovered this, it was like Christmas all over...the ball just rockets and its alot easier to hit than my 3 wood. i hope i can break 120!

Bought a 23° mizuno to sub for my 3 iron but it only lasted 2 weeks in the bag before i went back to a 3 iron it got similar distance to the 3 iron but had a very high ball flight and i could never get it to go straight either draw or fade never straight, maybe its just me, but i dont have the same drama with the 3 iron.
