Hi all, Any advice on the best travel bag for taking my clubs on an international flight? I've got my stand bag with a hood, but I'm looking for a bit more protection before I hand my clubs over to the friendly people at Qantas. All advice much appreciated. Jimbo

I bought a Top Flite travel bag at GolfMart and was very pleased with it, cost $95 and came with wheels, a shoe compartment, shoulder strap, carry handle, and a padded top to go around the club heads. It was made of much sturdier material than the Srixon and Wilson ones they had there, Callaway one was also good but at $179 wasn't worth the extra cash. The Srixon one did have it's own bag to be stored in when not in use which was good, but not essential really. Heres an ebay link to the same one ... http://cgi.ebay.com.au/CLEA...

IMO the best is the Club Glove Last Bag but they are very expensive, most of the pros use these. One tip, buy a broomstick from a hardware store and cut it so it's about 2" longer than your driver. Put that in your golf bag in case a baggage handler decides to throw your bag long ways against something hard, that will save the shaft. PT

Thanks for the advice Mike and PT. That broomstick tip is a ripper. Jimbo

pt73 has the right idea. I've owned and destroyed/had destroyed a number of travel bags. The Club Glove bags are by far the best, expensive, but the best. I found that unless you are carting around a staff bag the Last Bag is too big. The Burstproof with wheels takes a carry bag easily and provides a fair bit of protection. JJ

I have a big Ben Hogan one that is quite good, but its only been on international trips a couple of times.
With a carry bag, there is plenty of room in this one and I tend
to throw other luggage in there with the clubs as well

I use this http://www.golfsmith.com/pr... It has 3 locks on it and has done me well in past 12 months .
The more i read the less i believe. |

agree that the burstproof with wheels is the way to go. very protective for your clubs. you can also buy the shaft protector pole from club glove too.

how about those Bag Boy ones?

I've got one of these; Have had it 18 months, used international and domestic with no problems. Big advantage is that when not in use it the pieces store inside each other to just 60cm high

whoa, that one looks mean i was thinking the semi-hard or even material/softer ones from Bagboy I've seen at drummonds
anyone have comments on those ones?

I was ebay and found this one. Looks pretty cool http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Shar...

Thats one crazy looking case. I bet you that you can fit more than 4kgs of MJ in it the next time you got to Bali

It does get a few looks from fellow travellers... Had no trouble with customs, leave the top section unlocked in case it gets searched, fully locked in Australia though. The space around the golf bag makes a great repository for dirty laundry on the return trip.

Ha ha ha. I guess you must declare your luggage due to "organic material" brought in from overseas!
Do they charge tariffs on bacteria and fungi I wonder?

Hi, I have the same one too. I use it to travel to Asia/Pacific area without any problem. There're padding inside to protect you bag. It also got lots of extra room even after I put my staff bag in there so I can put my clothes/shoes etc in there.
I even put my laptop computer in there couple of times.

I use a cheapish soft sided Proline bag. It wille easily hold my
carry bag & all my clothes, shoes etc meaning I only have one
luggage item & often get away with excess baggage.
