Hi,

Do you guys know any golf stores in australia that are the cheapest for new golf gear?

Its just thats golfs an expensive hobby smile.gif

Hi BT,

Depends on what you are looking for. If its OEM, then you're stuck with high prices as they are all pretty much bound by RRP. If its custom fitted gear, then theres a whole bunch of places you can pick up new Titanium drivers from around $250 or so and top quality iron sets from $575 or so. Do some research into the component market and you'll be suprised how good the stuff is.

Cheers

Ben

Hi,

For OEM stuff I have found that House of Golf and Golfworks ( check both out on the ISEEKGOLF links ) are pretty good for specific things. You can also try to haggle a bit to improve the deal. Even compared to prices in the US they are not too bad. I frequently get them to send me stuff with C.O.D. and they have been spot on with delivery.

Also try your local pro- espicially after you've got a price from a shop. Mine seems to be able to get great deals on specific things- especially Hogan stuff. He says, for example, if anyone would like to get some forged Hogan irons he could make a deal at $149 per iron- which is better than the golf shops around here.

Cheers

Chris

I hear the guys at www.tourperformancegolf.com.au are pretty reasonable with their prices.

And then there's also eBay. A great place for some new stuff and a lot cheaper than any store.

Hindo,

You're too kind... and I forgot to mention ebay aswell. there are some awesome deals on ebay!

Cheers

Ben

I found out through ebay about a guy whos offers the newest gear on the market really cheap. I bought a new TM R540 of him for $620 delivered to my place. Seems to be very cheap with all his gear.

Is it merely a coincidence that this "guy" has the same username on eBay that you have here on ISG?

ahahahahaha! laugh.gif nice one hindo...

don't worry mate, your secret's safe with us. you've just got to be a bit more subtle...or add a smiley at the end of that statement. smile.gif

I look at your auction on clubs and check the acquisitions prices so you're actually OK in terms of markup as plenty of buyers don't want the hassle of bringing gear in. good service too!

It's a bummer since belowpargolf put up there shipping prices, but luckily the exchange rates better so there Oz shipping isn't too bad really. 3balls at least haven't started pushing their ship prices either but their reserves are getting a little lousy..

Hmmm...even subtle enough to get past my wandering eyes...hmmm to delete or not delete...commercial or non-commercial post?? laugh.gif

Well spotted hindo!

My bad… 8O

I just realized what’s happening.
Regardless of the ‘self-promotion’ or not, 620 for a R500 series driver is pretty damn good. biggrin.gif

heh.

are u getting kickabacks from that guy mau?!? tongue.gif biggrin.gif

i just missed one of greggo's king cobra ss350's for just $375.

not even I can get one brought over for that price even from dodgy US ebay sellers wink.gif

mac...
don't know the guy...but wouldnt hurt to know someone in the golf retail business heh... biggrin.gif

anywayz, I cant even get them for 620 here...best is 690.

whilst on the topic of Cobra's new driver...I saw a couple last week. How hideous is the head cover...makes that cheap plastic crap from nike look good...

Mw.

saw one closeup the other day that slambozzio bought and wanted to ralph tongue.gif

if they were trying to make it look like the Titelist TigerStripe headcovers you see on some japanese models they failed. the tittie one is bloody cool...but headcovers float some people's boats i guess.

look at the annoying trade in SC covers. almost every seller in the US automatically separates clubs from covers which shites me when trying to buy in the US.

i now only go with nice sellers who pair the headcover!

speaking of which, the WRX leather ping headcover i have on my AnsferF is going for craploads on ebay. must...not...selllll!!!!! smile.gif

Aww .. come on guys, the Cobra headcover isn't THAT bad smile.gif Anyways its whats underneath that counts.. kinda like womans underwear!
Still the best money I ever spent on golf gear was when i bought that driver ... even outdrove mac's famous deep red 3wood!!

great analogy there jaroo... biggrin.gif

Big Johns in Sydney for the cheapest new stuff, Gerry at Balmain golf for the 2nd handers

heh, i'm back onto the adams gt363 driver just to keep up now!!!

bloody cobra owners! tongue.gif cobra should be banned!!!!

Okay, maybe I do know the guy who sells 500 series drivers for $620 pretty damn well. biggrin.gif I'm just sick of the major golf outlets robbing us blind when buying decent golf gear. My aim is to give everyone the chance to own and play with the best gear, without having to sell the house to pay for it. I don't plan to make much out of it, but I do get great satisfaction out of getting someone the best clubs around. Their thanks is enough to make me keep doing it. It makes someones day, when they get to play with the same club as the pro's, without having to wait years to be able to afford it. Maybe one day, retailers will realise that everyone wants the chance to own and play with the best clubs, and that not every golfer has a spare grand for a new driver.

Sorry about the wingeing, but I just like to help people out. biggrin.gif

mmmmm...a question.
The "big retailers" would have us believe the markup is very small
on the big OEM gear. And that they actually make more on a $500 set
of Tridents (for eg) that a $1400 set of OEMs.
Care to shed some light on this??
Regards
Dean

G'day Dean, I do find it hard to believe that the "big retailers" aren't making much on the OEM gear. Although I don't try for much mark-up on my gear, selling a R540 for $620 does return a profit. While I may get 15 or so TM 500 series drivers at a time, I would think that when the big players in the golf retail market get an order it would be for 100's or 1000's of a particular club. With that sort of quantity, I'm sure they could get a much better price than I can :?: . I priced a 500 series driver at Golf World the other day, and their best price was $895, which includes a damn good mark-up. They do make a great profit out of cheap $500 sets of clubs, but they don't miss out on the good stuff either. Even if they make 20% on the top gear, 20% of $1500 is still $300 profit. They may have a lot of overheads as they keep telling us, but they're still doing very well out of us golfers :!:

Thanks Mr Ping for making the latest equipment more affordable for all golfers, the other day i was checking out the 500 series drivers at one shop and the price tag was $1050.keep them good deals coming.

cheers

choco

Thats the exact reason why we got into the component business. Just as high quality clubs, but without the price tag.

Cheers

Ben
